The future looks bright. The fact we built a forum in 5 days that is arguably better than Kinja is both promising and hilarious.
I started writing on here because I was given a tip from a former advisor that writing skills were a weakness of many in my field. They mentioned one of the best way to practice is to write about things not in your field (to avoid burnout). So I came here to try my hand at amateur automotive journalism and general shitposting (writing is writing, it doesn’t have to be good). I have great memories in my idk how much time on this iteration of Oppo. Thankfully with the last threat of shutdown, I archived many of my old posts and with the help of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I was able to get a recent copy.
I guess I will leave a list of my 5 most memorable steps in this Kinja Oppo journey in no particular order.
1. My first post - Reviewing an SRT-10 quad cab. My first taste of disappointment in not gift wrapping a tree with a 500hp V10 pickup.

2. A front page article - Yes, I somehow wrote an article worthy enough to be used on the front page. Full Disclosure: I am not an aeronautical engineer, nor do anything with engineering, so much of this article I was flying by the seat of my pants. I predict weather for a living, so I guess I know something about air.

3. My first article series - 2sday. While practicing my writing abilities for when I was working on my Master’s thesis, I tasked myself with writing a once per week article series. I decided to come up with 2sday which chronicled automotive history for the years ending in “2" and came out on Tuesday - clever right? [The article below is the last in the series, it has links to all other articles - Maybe I will repost them with new content?]

4. Writing Reviews. I enjoy experiencing many types of cars, I tried reviewing them and really enjoyed it. I have learned so much about writing, formatting, and the importance of coming up with a uniform comparable scale. Below are a couple of my favorites (Not necessarily the best)

5. General shitposting. I am going to miss the general shitposting on here ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). There were many a days where I would cruise through Cragslist and find some silly car and wonder how dumb I would be to buy it, or just !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

This is it. It has been fun here, but I am glad to see it isn’t over, just at a new place. I look forward to our new adventure in this community. We have great people and we will move on to grate things. Jminer, RallyDarkstrike, Rusty Vandura, and others are building a nice new home for us at the hyphen. All I have to say is...

Also what is the status on Oppo DriveTribe. I am confused. Is the hyphen were our general foruming/shitposting will happen and DriveTribe more for long form articles?

It sort of seems that way. At least, there's a few of us who are differentiating DT as the place for slightly more polished, formal work.
