You can jump around your history by changing this number in increments/multiples of 20.
I forgot I had oppo meet photos and whatnot that I have no idea which old cell or Canon they may be on. Also want to save a few things of my previous cars, as I deeply regret having almost no photos of cars from my teens and early 20s.

Any recommendations for a good platform/medium to save them in? I don’t really know how I want to save a few of my longer form posts.

What I’ve been doing is going to the article, going into ‘edit’, then ‘select all’,’copy’, and then I paste it into a blan k Microsoft Word Document. It transfers text, photos, and hyperlinks.

Hmmm I should really do that. I need to free up some space first though.

Here’s one method from the last scare

There was at least one other method too, but I am not having any luck finding it so far

Over the years, I have backed up my Aviation History posts, usually when there has been a scare about the death of Oppo. I was up til 2 am last night getting the last of it. My process is laborious, but I think it works.
Open the post and select Edit
Select all text
Copy and paste into a TextEdit file
Save in folder with post title
Save Oppo post
Drag/drop all photos from web into folder
Lather, rinse, repeat
The TextEdit file looks like shit, but it preserves all the words, links, and even YouTube links. If I ever get around to creating my own aviation history website, I’m hoping I can use these files, which are meticulously saved in folders by year and date, to copy/paste the text into the new format. Like I said, it’s laborious, but at least I have my words. I can always find pictures later, but I even have most of those saved in a separate folder.

What exactly is this TextEdit file thing?

Going to miss these. Thanks for doing them as long as you have.

Google drive or Google photos works great for me.
Edit: oh I see you mean the complete post. Google Doc saved on Google Drive would be what I’d do.

And note that you can’t just use the browser’s save function, as it will miss the images (and comments) due to lazy loading.

Good idea. I wished I posted more stuff. Just saw a post I made in March and made a relevant update.

I am using Save Page WE in Chrome , which saves them as webpages. It doesn’t handle videos (will save thumbnail, but link doesn’t work), but it handles everything else.
Make sure to expand all comment threads in the posts you want to save!

Wait is Oppo-Kinja going bye-bye for real this time?

TextEdit is Mac’s built in text editor . Bare bones way to c/p text. Easier than Word. I’m not very techie, but it has something to do with support for Rich Text, whatever that is. I imagine Windows has something similar.

Works great on everything except videos (it will save a thumbnail of the video, but the link doesn’t work).
Make sure to expand all comment threads you want to save before saving the page!

I spent yesterday evening getting caught up from the last time.

This may work well. Where does it store the information? Google Drive?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 11:40 |

It saves it locally as an HTML file - I’m sure you could put it on Google Drive though.

Thank you. I need to get to work.

Sounds like it. We’ve got a little over a week to figure out another place to go, but it sounds like we could get some help with that.
