HOW ARE THESE SO PERFECT?!?! The paint on most of those looked like crap after only 10 years yet these still look immaculate . You could have the paint fade just by keeping the garage light on too often yet these are somehow perfect.

Clearly the garage they were kept in didn’t have lights, and they may have only been driven at night

Probably a combination of good detailing and that the PNW climate is pretty easy on cars, especially west of the mountains.

Even then, they must have avoided full moons.

You can have the paint fail on a car from even indirect sunlight here. There are quite a few places on my dad’s truck where the paint has begun to fail where it wouldn’t receive direct sunlight in the carport. The roof didn’t even last 10 years.
It’s mind boggling how much damage the sun will do here if you aren’t careful with the sunshades and UV protecting products. I’ve seen headlights become faded in as little as 5 years. After 10 years no vehicle that isn’t garaged can escape unscathed.

Maybe it’s the angle of the sun, your latitude or something. In my trips to GA and FL, I have seen the same thing, failed paint everywhere and cars with cataracts are the norm.
In these parts, especially west of the Cascades where sun is still kind of a curiosity, you’ll find 25 year old cars that still look fine. Few people own sunshades and I suspect nobody uses products.

Toyota in the 90's. We’ll give them their damn cupholder...but ONLY 1!

The hood on the green is peeling. common with this color I guess. Mine was perfect but it only had about half that mileage and age.

I didn't notice that in the pictures. It's impressive it made it this long.

Indeed. People just never address the sun damage on headlights so dangerous headlights are the norm, not the exception. I’ve addressed the ones on some of my friends’ cars for their safety.
Sunshades aren't just for protecting your dashboard. Try getting in a car after being parked in the sun for hours with and without one and you'll see why they are used. Especially untinted cars with black leather. Ouch.

I really like that purple one, and if I wasn’t currently eyeing an 80 series, I might be more tempted to fly out there and get it.

I wish I could find one as nice as the one you picked up, and have them not charge $20k+ for it. I have a fairly nice 100 series currently and love it, so I’m still not sure if I want to get an 80 or not yet. If I get an 80 I’d be selling my 06 100.

I love the look of the 100, but the feel of the 80. Helped my neighbor find an ‘04 LX470 after he became obsessed with my ‘97 450.
The trick with finding mine in such good shape was that it was a one-owner, and the owner actually died of terminal cancer in his early 40's. The truck was gifted to his best friends in his will, who were mechanics - they went through the entire truck and replaced what needed to be replaced.
They then wanted it to go to a good home, as the truck held more sentimental value than anything in their fleet (dude I got it from had quite the roster of vehicles). I scored a great deal, but I also feel almost like an obligation to keep this truck going as the story behind it is pretty unique.
Best of luck!

That is a unique story on it for sure. I’m looking at the 80 series for the solid axles and better aftermarket. The 100 series is doing ok, but everything is so dang expensive on the 100's. Also mine has the AHC system, which makes a lift more expensive because I have to replaced everything including the torsion bars. I would also be able to get into a decent 80 series for a third of what my 100 series is worth, and I feel like they will only go up in value.
