Holosun HS507C X2, just mounted it up on my .22lr GP100 revolver. My first red dot sight, it’s a bit freaky because the reticle stays the same size to your eye no matter how close or far away you’re looking at the sight from.

The above photo is taken at about arms length, where you would usually be holding a handgun while shooting. Bring the gun closer to your eye, and the reticle takes up less and less space in the lens:

Kinja'd!!!

It also stays in a distant focal plane so if you focus on the lense, the reticle goes blurry. If you focus on a target at least 5 feet away, the reticle becomes sharp. Very cool tech. Wish I’d gotten into it ten years ago. If it works out as well as I think it will at the range, I’m gonna get another 507C for my carry pistol and then a 510C for an upcoming AR-15 build.

Very cool. I still have never used a red dot sight, definitely on my list of things I’d like to buy though.

Been running red dots on Glocks for a while. The cheaper units work well on pistols, but I’ve always run Aimpoints or Eotechs on long guns and carbines. The battery life on Eotechs suck, but the reitcle is much nicer. I’ve had a mini Eotech on my AR-15 SBR for eight years now with no issues.

They’re great when sighted in properly. If they’re not, and you have no iron backups, you wind up with a worthless gun pretty quick.

That’s really cool. I don’t own any, but I’ve tried a few on other peoples pistols and they are pretty slick.

The Holosuns are considered to be among the best red dots you can buy, with reticle clarity exceeding even Eotech. They have proven extremely rugged and durable, to the point they are the sight of choice for Ian and Karl from Forgotten Weapons and InRangeTV. And they do put them through their paces.

Plus they’re about 2/3 to 1/2 the price of an Eotech!

How is it in bright sun?

I think .22 pistols are illegal here.

That’s one of the downsides of the holographic sights. Since they are driven with lasers, the battery life is inherently disadvantaged vs normal reflex red-dots which just use a simple LED.  The upside is that at least within the constraints of manufacturing precision, the holographic sights can have both infinite or far focal points, and basically no parallax.  Since the reticle image is etched into the window, though, sometimes they aren’t quite as crisp.

Yes, Canada. Am I incorrect? It’s been a long time since I got my license and I’m not a handgun guy.

Now that I think about it, I think its the short barrel “saturday night specials ” that aren ’t allowed.

Next you just need a silencer and a heartbeat sensor. Then you will find it real easy to get that UAV, Chopper, and Nuke to win. Dont forget to equip that lightweight perk too!

.22 pistols are legal. Anything chambered in .25 or .32 is prohibited in Canada I believe .

Our laws really make no sense I always think that it is crazy that .22's rifles are exempt from mag limits and .22 pistols are not.

and that while the mag limit is 5 rounds for rifles, guns like the PC carbine can take up to 10 because they take pistol mags.

Been loving my holosun on my  .44. Going to move it to my rifle soon and buy a less expensive one as I dont need a bullet drop compensator on a handgun really.

Yeah they’re not cheap but not nearly as expensive as EoTech or Aimpoint!

I did not realize that! My .22 takes one in the chamber and as many as I want in my pocket. Just checking on the rcmp website and looks like the 5 round limit on rifles only applies to centerfire.

How is it in bright sun?

It auto-adjusts brightness depending on ambient light, I took it outside and it’s still very visible in broad daylight. Took it back inside and it dimmed the reticle automatically. It also goes into sleep mode after 10 minutes of not being moved or jostled. I’m really liking it.

Oh and it has a solar cell atop to keep the battery charged when using during the day, they claim up to 50,000 hours of battery life.

Yep!  That’s why you can get a drum mag for the GSG and stuff.  I wish we could get the 25 round sticks for the Ruger 10-22, but because those mags can be used in the 10-22 Charger pistol, they are illegal in Canada.

that’s pretty cool. I like the powersave and shake awake. wonder how it does in the cold on a rifle where you wind up breathing on it. Either way, as CarsofFortLangley pointed out I won’t be getting once any time soon since they are basically half of what I paid for my gun!

Ruger should add a poke-yoke to the larger mag so it won’t fit into the pistol.

I have a red dot on a PCC.  First time I took it it to the range, the battery was dead.  The local grocery store didn’t have the size battery I needed, either.  It was a PITA.

Yeah mine cost about half of what the revolver it’s mounted on costs, but good glass ain’t cheap! If it significantly improves my ability to shoot well with it, worth every penny.

I’ve owned all my Eotechs, Aimpoints and an ACOG for ten plus years, and have never messed around with  anything else. They’re what all my buds used in Iraq, Afghanistan, north Africa... so I didn’t mind ponying up the bucks up front for something I knew would last. Back then the cheaper options never lasted any of the gunfighting classes I attended so I never bothered with them. Good to hear there are now durable cheaper options.

Wow, I wouldn’t really call those cheap red dots. I paid $500 for my Aimpoints back in the day, and $300 for my used Eotechs. I think my ACOG was $500 used.
