Camaro is in paint all of the parts that were ordered are in, except for the exhaust. It’s on backorder, and I don’t believe that insurance would let me substitute it out with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Would also accept this:

Would the “this” happen to equal or double worth of said vehicle?

Guess you’ll just have to drive it without the exhaust until it comes in...

You don’t know unless you ask. They might prorate it...

Probably worth more than the fucking Sebring that hit me, but not worth more than my Camaro

Real answer, chinabuilt ebay systems are ridiculously cheap. The one I had on my Golf and now have on my Jetta sounds way better than expected. It’s all just fusion welds, but two winters and 15k ish miles
didn’t do any damage to it.

Thanks, I didn’t remember what Camaro you have and they’ve been in production for some time with a fair amount of variance in quality.

Is insurance paying for a rental car? If so they may allow it if the other unit is in stock.
Even if that’s not the case ask the body shop, and they might do it if you pay the price difference.

I mean you have a legitimate excuse.

Insurance shouldn't care. They’re giving you “x” dollars towards the damaged component. If you choose to spend those dollars on something different it’s your choice.
Back in the day I spun my Si and removed the front end on a guard rail. Ended up with a blue carbon fiber hood (cheaper because no paint) and gunmetal housing headlights with ionized lenses and ended up walking away with money in my pocket.

They should be able to cut you a check for the cost of the stock exhaust and give you the car. Also make sure you get money for diminished value now that the Camaro will have an accident on its history.

Did they ever tell you the full estimate?

Do long tubes so you'll be a proper CAMC boi
![]() 11/03/2020 at 14:30 |

They should cover the difference if you want to source your own!
![]() 11/03/2020 at 14:32 |

In that case I’m surprised you had exhaust on it to begin with.

Dare I ask what a CAMC boi is?

Nope, never did, just started it after I signed the paperwork.

It might not hurt to ask, due to the delay maybe they will let you add the difference if there is one.

You may be able to finagle your way into an aftermarket exhaust. When I had the hydrolocked motor in my 335xi replaced by a comprehensive claim, the adjuster wrote it out for a junkyard replacement engine, but they just issued a blanket check for the dollar amount, and didn’t require me to actually buy whatever they recommended. I was able to get a BMW remanufactured longblock for less than they allocated for the junkyard engine, and spent the difference on bolt-ons. This may have been because I was having the work done by a small indy mechanic that wasn’t in my insurance company’s network.
This looks to be the factory part: https://www.chevroletonlineparts.com/oem-parts/gm-muffler-and-pipe-84560763
MSRP is just shy of $2500 so might not pay for a full header-back system but that aFe catback falls within range.

You could call your adjuster and ask about substitutions, since the OEM isn’t readily available. Some of them can be reasonable, they might even cut you a check for the cost of the OEM part and let you buy whatever you want with the money.

Thats surprisingly accurate lol. "Stock looking interior", more like black painted cardboard

Well, to be fair, black painted cardboard is factory GM
