I was thinking.... Assume California is super duper blue. And Montana is super duper red. No chance of it flipping. Residents of un- flip pable states might find it useful to not participate in elections. Instead the flippable states participate in election - i.e. Florida, Pennsylvania etc.
It would be hilarious to find how many US citizens all of a sudden live in FL and PA :)
AGAIN. NOT SERIOUS. LIGHTHEARTED HUMOR ONLY.
I don’t care who you voted for. Only happy you voted.

It’s alread y happening, kind of. Look at the people fleeing CA real estate prices for TX sprawl. It’s shifting the ‘hue’ from red to purple. I expect FL could see the same in a decade or more. The difference there being that FL can be a harder pill to swallow. Hurricanes, gators, Florida man, etc.

I checked out the full list of people running for president and have concluded that I’d cast my vote for the person who has apparently changed their name to Sexy Vegan.
SEXY VEGAN 2020!

Huh, didn’t know there was a full list.
Yup, Augustus Sol Invictus is still doing his thang...

Yeah...because NYC, LA, and SF aren’t mostly filled up with transplants from other places. And rural communities aren’t shedding young people like crazy due to the lack of career opportunities.
Insert eye roll graphic here.

You not only have people moving from CA to TX because their employer moved there, but also people moving from TX to PA / OH for natural gas stuff , and a ton of liberal weenies from all over moving to the bigger cities in NC .
Purple for everyone!

I did a write-in for Fred Durst today against one of the people running un-opposed.

mostly filled is a stretch these days. NYC is empty. LA and San Fran probably is too. There may be some folks left over that either have no other place to go or can’t afford to leave.

If you’re not a transplant, you’ re someone who never left your hometown after high school.

Aussie politics is just a series of coup d’etat of backbenchers deposing party leaders.

I went rural two years ago, much prefer the solitude and privacy. I’m an hour away from the tech giants, whenever they go back to the office.

I am in Montana and our 3 electoral college votes don’t mean squat in the general election so I voted for Chuck Norris.

Good point. These big cities tend to attract already liberal transplants from all over the country, and when they leave, sometimes they’re just going back to their origin... Dragging their politics with them the whole way.
It is pretty funny to hear from so many red staters the vitriol and hate for anyone they see as being a transplant and bringing blue politics to their red-ish state.
There’s probably a lot more blue in some of these deeply red states than people realize, it’s just that they don’t always show up on election day to let people know they’re there. Seems die hard republicans are very good at consistently turning up, including for mid terms and run off elections, but democrats need to be spurned on by a compelling presidential election to bother.
Dems definitely seem much more fickle.

I have friends in LA, NYC and SF (lived there for over a decade), I’m sorry but those places are not empty. Yes people are getting out less because they are following public health recommendations unlike other places. And yes, there are some people moving to other areas but these places will be just fine in the long run.
Sure, “mostly filled” may technically be inaccurate given just the sheer size of these populations, but the numbers of transplants in these places are sizeable especially given the populations of places people may be relocating there from. In any case, your claim that people only leave blue areas to relocate to red areas (and the associated implications) is hot garbage. And this feeds in to the routine BS we hear about what actually counts as the “real America” or the “heartland”.

Absolutely. On a different thread I ended up in an argument about people relocating recently too. People moving around is literally the story of America’s very short history to date. Most of us are either transplants ourselves, or at the very least our parents or grand parents certainly were. People just say this crap because they want to see their side as the true patriots and the other side as a bad influence ruining their neighborhoods. It’s horrible to hear from either side.
