As much as I’m against new highway construction in general, it does seem like it would make a whole lot of sense to connect the ICC with 28 in Virginia:

(or maybe with 286, but I suspect it works better to have it go to Dulles more directly. I guess you could do both if you’re cool with building two bridges.)

They really do.  I’m actually from Frederick, MD, and my family is still up there. And I live in Great Falls, VA, so my choices right now are drive out to 15 and go up, or take 495 to 270.  And much like our current election, both choices suck!

This is the right answer - go to Dulles directly, do not try to connect to 286. Mainly because I live right off Algonkian, aka 6220, aka the portion of 286 north of Rt 7. So NIMBY, etc. But really, I think having a direct connection between the heart of MoCo and Dulles makes the most sense.
