I took the KLR out for a
very
brisk ride this evening, and discovered one of the KLR’s interesting
foibles: the liquid
cooling system and its tendency to run super cold in cold weather at speed, because reasons. Long story short, they make a kit called the

which converts the system from engine-bypass to radiator-bypass, which is what pretty much all modern cars use to keep engine operating temps very consistent.
W
hile I was at it, I ordered an LED sealed-beam headlight which perfectly replaces the original halogen sealed beam unit, no other modifications necessary. Gonna be a good winter.

We have a 500 cc 6x6 that we use in the winter and is liquid cooled. I just realized that the coolant is probably really diluted and Its going to get really cold soon. Crud. Anyway, it never seems to have a problem, 0 degrees or 90 degrees. Runs like a champ.

We’ve got a week of warm weather here so I rode the XL600 to work yesterday. T hat was the plan today too, but my rear tire keeps going flat. I’ve patched the tube four times in the last two days now to no avail, and finally just put a different tube in last night. I tested it and everything before I put it in, but sure enough I go out to the garage this morning and it’s flat. I need a better set of spoons or something, this is getting ridiculous.

Sounds sounds like you have a burr or some other s harp e dge inside your tire that keeps puncturing your tube

Couldn’t you just block off part of the radiator? Also I just remembered it’s supposed to get decently warm this afternoon like low 60s! So I’ll definitely go out for a ride.

That very well could be, didn’t think of that. Would make since too since all of my little punctures are within an inch or two of each other. I’ll pull it apart again tonight and check that out, thanks!

I could, but then the bike would overheat when sitting and idling in traffic.
