I know he explains that they were done for aerodynamic reasons, but those headlights are really awkward.

Imagine if you called a tow company today and they showed up in a severely beat Maybach with a tow hitch Sawzalled through the bumper

I mean, a Duesenberg probably has more in common with a modern medium duty commercial truck than any car built today.

Oh I saw that, that is actually an impressive car, he shows some cool stuff but that is pretty remarkable.

True.
Perhaps we have it all wrong, we should be building luxury cars on Isuzu npr chassis

Or maybe a GMC TopKick chassis

Very cool. And an interesting glimpse into the Indy car industry at the time. It really held the high end market for a while.

That’s very cool, thanks. I’ve contracted at, and been employed at, Lilly several times, and never knew about this car.

Can’t stomach Jay Leno but I’ll give it a shot for the car content

It’s ugly, but a custom 1-of-1 custom Duesy is still quite the, uh, Duesy!

just curious, what rubs you the wrong way about Leno? I respect the fact the guy has more money than god yet gives us a glimpse of automotive history (perfect example above) on a weekly basis that us common car folk might never get the chance to see. But I’ve seen your opinion shared by others as well, so just curious!

I respect that aspect of him too, I just can’t stand to watch him present. But presenting is how he got famous!
I find that watching him is 50% Jay cutting off whoever he’s interviewing to tell an anecdote about his own life, and 50% boomer American-isms that are especially jarring to a non-American such as myself.
Maybe some people are into car videos that are more about Jay Leno than the actual car, but not me. He does have some incredible cars though.

update: the first 10 minutes of that video is really about Jay, not the car. ;)
Contrast to a Doug or Carfection video, which is all about the car. The presenter just...presents it.
