I’ve been following along with
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
and Joe’s Peugeot 205 Junior made me want to do something to honor classic 80's French hatchbackness, so....I give you ‘Night Cruise Series #6' - the Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6! :)
I’ve always loved the very crisp and undeniably 80's styling of the 205 and have always liked the earlier 205s with the amber indicator lenses and the cool ribbed plastic cladding on the trunk lid
more than the later ones. I guess I like color contrast, which the amber indicators provide and give it a bit more interesting character to my eyes...post-facelift model with clear lenses for comparison:
Also, making that antenna detail on the art design made me realize....my god, the 205 had a huge factory antenna, haha! Were they thinking people were going to be equipping these things with CB radios or something? The radio reception must be phenomenal! :D

Oooh, that is a really good one. I live the 205, espacially the GTIs. I agree with you about the pre facelift ones though. I think I'm just more used to seeing the American side marker lights esque amber splash up front. It makes it look more like it belongs here.

In the 80 s and early 90s, antennas were not discrete :

The bleu Miami from Peugeot is a great choice !
It’s a bit hard to choose between this one and the M iami blau from Porsche, VW and Opel (all these 3 are teal).

Agreed! I always thought the no requirement for amber lights as turn signals thing in the US / Canada was odd...I mean, I’m used to red on the rear of some cars
now, but even as a Canadian, having a different color for turn signals on the back as mandatory makes far more sense...

As I own a 205, I can chime in. The antenna is huge. And, because I have a convertible and the roof should clear the antenna, mine is always in the ‘excited’ position. The advantage of that long antenna is that I use the stock antenna for (perfect!) DAB+ digital radio reception without any kind of aid. Just a cheap €2 adapter from ebay .
In the 90s and early 00s many pre-facelift 205s were retrofitted with the post facelift lights. To make them look more modern. I have put the original lights back on mine (1987) because I like them better. And it’s ‘period correct’.
Here’s my antenna. I did get it from a junkyard 205 hatch, not sure if the convertible had a shorter one.

Thanks! I think it turned out nicely with the blue! Not quite sure if I nailed the exact shade though, but it’s close enough! :)
I was originally going to do the dark ‘Sorento Green’ that was a limited edition color, but I thought I’d better not as the series is ‘Night Cruise’ so a dark color on a dark background would’ve been harder to do and not look as nice...

Very
true, but I bet they had better reception than the little stub on my Accent! :/

It has been well proven by this point to be safer to have a separate bulb and color for the indicator so why they haven’t done anything is beyond me.
But Euro cars have such vastly different lighting setups up front it is weird to see one that kinda resembles a US setup. The large amber lamps on the corner look like US side marker lights and the later one pictures doesn't have a side repeater.

Those are the best paint codes ever :P

Pardon? Your reply seems fine to me?

It was supposed to be a reply to the message where you mention the “Sorento Green” (M4RM).

Ah, gotcha, no worries my friend! :)

I do actually like the fact it’s huge...another thing to give the car character...looks even bigger on the convertible, considering it has no roof! :P
Remind me to request a test drive if I’m ever over there in Europe your way! :D

If you were to visit (Munich) you can certainly request a test drive!
Or, post-corona, during an oppomeet.
