It is ironic, despite all the “Canada is SO nice” PR, that you do find a lot of violence and corruption in even banal industries up there . I had a work acquaintance years ago (he was in software by that point) who previously had owned a trucking business (long haul, trans-Canada freight) which apparently ran afoul of certain interested parties who insisted THEY owned his routes. And made that quite clear.
20 years later and this guy was walking with a permanent limp, and a hunched over stance. They really messed him up good for sending the wrong trucks out to pick up the wrong loads.

The greatest lie ever

Funny enough in the Toronto area on Wednesday the work truck I was on had an air line plug up on the air brakes. It weighs 30k lbs, so not light. The driver was already on the phone with a dispatcher arranging a tow truck. Before he was off the phone 3 trucks where waiting to pull us. It was on a side street, not blocking a major road.
The driver tow the tow ops to f*ck off, one started backing up to pick us up. Told him to f *ck off again, there is truck on the way (he have a contract with a good tow company). On the 3rd time telling the one tow truck to f *ck off he finally left. The truck we called arrived 20 minutes later. Breaking down in Tornoto is call sign for the pirates.

I wonder how many of these gangs operate cross border, or at least have cross border connections. The tow truck industry has been notoriously corrupt in a number of major US cities, in particular Detroit, which, in non-COVID time, is just a quick hop over the bridge from Ontario.

And of course, being Canada, not only can’t the cops defend her, it’s practically illegal for her to defend herself...
