I think we have that already if you shop online and watch for deals. I have never got on the black friday train.

So far as actually going out to a store for the traditional Black Friday sales, I have done it only once, to get 2 desk tops and monitors for the office.

I'm tempted to buy one of their generators this weekend.

I worked at a major clothing retailer for nearly 4 years. Every black Friday deal we had could be had at some other point in December, sometimes even better ones.

Black Friday isn’t for us. It’s for the retailers. The ‘killer deals’ like $200 off a PS4 or whatever are super low inventory. People who d on’t wanna leave empty handed mostly buy stuff at a much smaller markdown, if any. We don't get killer deals all year because killer deals are a loss leader of a handful of items.

Yeah is a gimmick, i also feel bad for the retail workers who have to work it and also thanksgiving. I also feel like it makes people buy crap they dont need. If i want a item i usually research it for a while until i find a good price.

Haha. That sounds about right. If you go to an actual mall (what's that?) on black Friday only like 2% of the stores actually have anything cheaper. And yet they're still crowded as fuck.

I don’t impulse buy. If I go out to make a purchase and it is not available, I will leave and possibly try to find it at another location, or hit the web see if I can get the same or similar.
The big ticket loss leader usually isn’t a loss for the retailer, generally the manufacturer is off loading an older model or a built to spec model for the particular retailer. They are all making mon ey from the sale, just not as much.

O ne positive thing that has happened this year due to the pandemic, many stores will closed on Thanksgiving. Maybe this trend will continue in the future.

I mean, we’ve got Princess Auto.
Yeah, it's not quite the same. Close, though.

Everyone’s doing an extended Black Friday thing this year. 55" 4K TB for $200 at Best Buy seems really solid: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tcl-55-class-4-series-led-4k-uhd-smart-android-tv/6422762.p?skuId=6422762
Though I can’t keep track of Google’s non-stop creation and cancelation of various overlapping products, so I couldn’t tell you if Android TV is the new stuff, something that will be unsupported in a few months, or both!
