Behold the Kia Mohave (Borrego in Canada (???) and China) in miltary spec. As far as I can tell, other than a 3.0L V6 diesel, it is essentially the civilian version with a paint job.

Dude! I was researching Borregos yesterday and saw this! Yeah, it’s basically just a civvy version in camo (seri ously needs some blackout on the head/tail lights) , but apparently the Borrego/Mohave has some decent offroad chops. I’m sure the torque of the diesel helps with that.
Apparently it’s a Borrego in US, Canada, and China, and a Mohave everywhere else.
I have a strange fascination with the Borrego. I’d love to drive one some day.

Its a traditional body-on-frame vehicle, so pretty rugged.
This is basicall
y the same thing the US military has done with the CUCV (C
ommercial U
tility C
argo V
ehicle)
program - take a civilian vehicle already in production and lightly adapt it to military needs

Yup. The biggest drawback, from a ruggedness perspective, is the independent rear suspension vs. solid axle, but it seems to handle itself adequately, at least. Definitely covers the 99% of usage for that class of vehicle.
