This is by far the best part of the movie, though after walking the New Jersey I can say that it would take about 50x the number of people they had just to get it out of the harbour. These things were people intensive and massive. I mean, each turre t had a 79 man crew.
I realize that takes the fun out of it, but still.

LOL! Leslie Nielsen couldn’t have written it better!

They keep calling enlisted men “sir”. Old salts would not accept that.

It would take a week or more to just flash up from cold . A nd that’s with everything ready to rock and in good condition.
“Moves a couple vending machines... Ready to cut her loose skipper!” LMFAO

Eh, wasn’t in long enough to put on anchors . You can call me EM2.
I got out in 2010 just after the uniform switch, and the new working uniform never sat well with me. Kha ki shirt... I always felt a little dirty wearing that, like I didn’t earn it.

I’m just a civvie, but I had two uncles and a cousin who were Navy enlisted. To hear them tell it, their Senior Chiefs chewed iron and spat out nails, and woe unto any lowly seaman or grunt that got in their way.

They weren’t wrong.
