I was working to get some insulation off a pipe and the one behind me was corroded so bad it broke apart after I bumped into it. It’s dyed pink, chiller water.

Apologies for the vertical video, but I was recording on Snapchat. So yeah, Maintence got it shut off, and housekeeping got rid of the water pretty quick. It was probably spraying for a good 1/2 hour.

Here is the box I was in and the repairs made.

I hope my Tuesday is better.

Yeah it may I’ve sucked in the moment last night. But the maintenance guys said I was far from breaking any records on how bad it was. So I’ll be taking it in stride. Heading to another job by 6:30 am, then a drive to Indianapolis Wednesday to work Thursday & Friday.

Saturday our neighbors are getting married at their house, so that should be fun.

Yikes! Yeah that pipe was in bad shape long before you ever got there. Straw that broke that camel’s back and all t hat.

So, this was in an old hospital. And the newer HVAC systems are moving to VAV boxes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_air_volume so there is a steady supply of hot steam and cold water consistently. The chiller line is the cold water line. But you can’t call it cold water because that’s for actual water pipes and plumbing.

Also the pink dye is a fail safe  to know it’s not water for drinking as if it was clear you be searching for the cold water shut off in the basement.
