Thanks to Y outube for various how- to and hacks, I pressed out two badly damaged wheel studs and replaced them - without removing the hub assembly, although partial disassembly of the parking drum brake was necessary and there was some springin’ and a sproingin’ as AVE would say, engage safety squints before attempting.

It was ultimately satisfying and totally do-able in your driveway with basic tools, but it took 3x longer than it should have, even with helpful hacks co urtesy the internets. Studs were damaged by previous owner with a rattle gun and some cheap aftermarket tuner lug nuts. I’m teaching my son the proper method, with a T-wrench and torque wrench.

Nicely done!

When replacing wheel studs I've always whacked them out with a sledge if there was space to.

Nice and unrusty!

My method (lug bolts rather than nuts) :

Hand feed, then hand tighten with bare socket to get started

Buzz on with electric impact on lowest setting (which gets them ~2/3 to proper torque setting)

Torque wrench to finish

Haven’t destroyed any bolts yet, but there’s still time!
