Gravel roads are a treat, especially when they don’t appear on GPS.

Kinja'd!!!

This is usually a sign of a good time and that AWD/4x4 will be needed at some point. Wouldn’t recommend if you don’t want to risk turning around.

What a strange road sign. Here it would probably read “impassible when wet”

It just means it’s not maintained in the winter, so take it at your own risk.

I have risked before, and paid the price.

That poor VW just learned a painful lesson; never trust a shart. Now it has to drive all the way home and change.

I’m not a fan of white cars, but bronze wheels definitely look great on white cars.

Something about the font/kerning on that sign really bugs me. Feels totally fake, but I guess it’s just Canadian.

It’s also rural Saskatchewan, so it may be a bootleg sign.

It does look very ‘shopped to these ‘merican eyes. ( Must be the metric dimensions throwing me off.)

Needs more bullet holes to feel properly rustic.

Do your rednecks enjoy roadside target practice as much as ours do?

They sure do!

We have an old stop sign in our office gym and it’s filled with bullet holes.

I grew up in an area with “Minimum Maintenance Road” signs. It’s kind of a weird thing where a county can decide that a road doesn’t see enough use to justify maintenance and put up a sign, and then they no longer have any liability for what happens but still get to set the rules . They were commonly impassible after rain and often had grass and weeds growing out of the center between the two tracks.

Those sort of signs down here often read ‘Dry weather road only’ which indicates that a) if you try it when it’s wet you’ll probably get stuck no matter what you drive and b) if the local authorities find you on the road, you risk a $1000 per wheel fine.

Unmaintained in Utah just means it’s smooth in the winter when there’s  snow.
