Is that two errors? I don’t remember how scoring works, but that was not exactly world-series-quality play.

Yeah, it was freaky.

I’ve never heard of that team

And here I was under the impression that both these teams were, you know, supposed to be good at baseball.

I can name surfers you don’t know!

That was a great game.

The coolest part is the Rays ran onto the field like third graders who just won the kick ball game on field day.

I t can be, but the official scorer only gave an error to the center fielder. Presumably they thought the play was difficult enough for the catcher that the catcher shouldn’t have been expected to make the play, so isn’t penalized for a panicked attempt to make a great play.

Does it help that they used to be this team?

Nope, that is even more confusing. I keep up on surfing, sumo and F1.

None of this makes any sense to me.

Had Arozarena (the winning runner) not slipped and fell between 3rd and Home, and Smith (the catcher) lost the ball in an actual play at the plate, Smith would have probably been charged an error.
At least, that’s my take on it.
