Update : The seller for the blue Jeep responded to my email. Things are sounding very good.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The local manual XJ sold in four days for asking price.
The red beauty in North Carolina sold in about four days.
All of the others I linked to haven’t been pulled from Craigslist yet, so there’s hope.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This one is more than I wanted to pay but it’s what I’m focusing on, and thanks to Snuze for volunteering to look at it...if they ever respond to me.
I should send them a follow-up note and say “Never mind on any of the questions I asked, ignore the fact I’m out of state, I’ll pay you as soon as you send me contact information.”

Nyet. Nein. Nada.

Full disclosure: I don’t know anything about Jeeps or if this is “ULTRA RARE”

Had to deal with this on my last car hunt ...all I can say is stay the course and be in a position to move aggressively when you see something good. I‘d imagine there’s a number of these floating around SE/Central Michigan; would be happy to take a look at one if it’d help you out.

I’d seen that one, but regrettably it doesn’t have the engine I want.
It is, undoubtedly, rare. And remarkably low mileage. If it just had the straight 6...

Das blau Joop ist uber nicen. You may have to be ready to pay what they want if they go like that.

Thanks, I appreciate that. None came up in Michigan when I searched last night , and honestly the omnipresent Michigan rust scares me a bit when buying something 20+ years old, but I’ve seen one or two that definitely intrigued me in the past.
I’d probably have more luck on Facebook, but my account has been deactivated for years, so that’s more of a pain than I like.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:24 |

Ah, gotcha. The mileage really took me by surprise.

I am, but I need them to mail me back!
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:25 |
|
No kidding. Granted, if it’s anything like my Jeep, the mileage is so low because it’s always broken...
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:29 |

Haha, it can be like that sometimes. I also found this one but it’s a 2 door and not nearly as fresh.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:32 |

I saw that one; it’s definitely on my list of “well, if I get desperate...”

Michigan tin worms are real, that’s for sure. FWIW, I’ve had some success with the following in the past:
1) Autolist (only covers dealers so may not be useful for this ; but for unknown reasons my most recent vehicle popped up here a full day before any other site );
2) Search All of Craigslist ( https://www.searchcraigslist.org/ ... A bit clunky with some dead links, but a national search as far as I can tell); and
3) Troll the classified sections of the enthusiast forums (c an be a complete bust but how I found my very well cared for Triumph).

not just a Toyota tax, but also a Jeep tax.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:38 |
|
Oh, definitely. Toyotas and Wranglers compete for title of least depreciation.

Autotempest.com does a nice combination of other sites + nationwide Craigslist, but I’ll definitely check out Auto list, thanks.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:43 |

Hadn’t heard of Autotempest; will have to remember that one. At the height of my last search I think I was checking six or seven sites a few times daily and that would have been handy.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 19:44 |

Autolist is really nice, thanks. Regrettably the pickings are about as slim there as on Craigslist , but it’s good to have more to choose from, and being able to filter by engine is useful.

Here’s a crazy one. $5500 for an XJ with almost 300k miles . 300,000 freaking miles!

(I know USD and miles aren’t your native tongue, but I figure you’ve hung around here long enough to know how to do the translation on the fly.)

Update: The blue Jeep is actually THIS:
![]() 10/23/2020 at 21:41 |
|
You know... the Jeep Patriot doesn’t have that problem.
Just sayin’...
:-D

Do you want to make a grown man cry? Is that your end game?
![]() 10/23/2020 at 21:48 |
|
The seller will be like “It’s close enough, right? And this is newer and gets better fuel economy! And that 4 cyl makes almost as much power as that old I6"
Here’s a tissue...
![]() 10/23/2020 at 21:52 |
|
Well, it is Craigslist, so I guess I should simply be happy if Snuze doesn’t get mugged checking it out for me.
![]() 10/23/2020 at 21:57 |
|
Or instead of getting mugged, the seller is a scary guy with face tattoos who sai d “You WILL buy this Patriot... and it’s up to you to deal with with the dead guy in the trunk. You don’t wanna join buddy in the trunk do you?”
And that’s how you’ll become a Jeep Patriot owner...
