I think he might be scared...

Seconded. Though Rivian is what should actually scare him when you stack up their upcoming electric SUV and pickup against the Model Y and Cybertruck as they are more similar in price and are from alternative auto manufacturers.

I agree. The Hummer is GM's model S, but the Rivian is trying to be the first gen EV fleet truck/work truck..

Yeah, I expected something to the effect of “weak, low energy imitation, Cybertruck will be much better, believe me. Our views on YouTube way higher, lead GM in all key demos"

No. Mostly because two wrongs don’t make a right and it’d be pretty stupid of either Tesla or GM to point that out.
#Cyberhummer (in Australian slang, this would be a blow job given by a robot). Which is about as practical and aesthetically pleasing as either the Hummer EV or the Cybertruck...

I think that's Workhorse it whatever they're called now and that hasn't gone well. Rivian is sensibly aiming upmarket more than that. They are still in the Model S phase and they know it but the GMC Hummer feels more like a Tesla Roadster to me albeit with more mass appeal (ugh). The price difference is too big for them to be true competitors but Rivian is more off-road focused than the E Tron or Taycan and projects an imagine more akin with a luxury truck than a luxury sedan.

Yeah, you're right that I'm conflating Rivian for Workhorse (or whatever they're called these days..)

Lordstown motors? As much as I want to see a fleet ready electric pickup that isn't stupid looking, I don't think they can do it. At least not yet. The model S had to come before the Model 3 for a reason.

I think if he was concerned he would have tweeted. I see this as either not worried about it , or realizing it wasn’t as hot an item as he was thinking and they’ve actually pulled back on it.

Maybe Elon learned that every tweet is a bad tweet

Precisely!
Two peas in a pod.

Hmm... will be interesting how many deposits GM claims after a week or two.
So, Cybertruck might be vaporware? Free long-term “loan” and $100 refunds for all? I wouldn’t put it past him.
Think anyone due a Roadster for referrals will actually get one?

Not bloody likely.

Nah... the news for Tesla today was their Q3 earnings
They’ll probably have some Cybertruck response in the future
But you forget that Musk WANTS other companies to come out with their own BEVs
