One of the more interesting builds I've seen lately

So apparently, this guy asked his lady  what kind of car she wanted, and she told him she wanted a Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, like the one Ralph Lauren has. So for the last several years, he’s been building one for her! For something built from scratch in a garage, it looks pretty darn good, and it’s pretty interesting hearing how he’s repurposed all sorts of parts to serve as the basis for various shapes in the car. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

I thought it was the aérolithe built by the Guild Garage

Looks good! I t’s being built by someone with their own TV show so it’s not exactly an amateur build but the repurposing is definitely at full “advanced level”.

In other words, he married someone with exquisite taste

It’s a pretty good show, too. The builds are very interesting, although the drama is a bit much. Still, I like watching it from time to time.

Yeah, this one isn’t quite that level of detail, but still pretty neat I’d say.

Check out the test drive of that car on Jay Leno’s garage:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

You’ll learn that while it’s beautiful to look at, it’s actually horrible to drive.

The original Aérolithe was parted and some of its parts were reused to build  the T57SC Atlantics.

I really like the design style of the builds I’ve seen from him. He was clearly influenced by cars from the Ed Roth/George Barris era which I’ve always liked.

It’s funny, he always insists that he doesn’t try to imitate the style of other artists and doesn’t try to mimic what others are doing because he wants his stuff to be original. But it certainly does look like he  takes a lot of inspiration from those famous c ustom car builders of yore... Perhaps they just think a lot alike :P

He clearly has an eye for design, but you’ll never convince me that this

Didn’t at least somewhat influence this

Oh yeah, there was definitely some influence going on there. Which isn’ t necessarily a bad thing, as both came out excellent.

I’m glad to see there’s someone that likes that type of style that actually has the drive and talent to make it happen. Plus he doesn’t charge the crazy prices most rod shops would; for now at least.

Yeah, I love how some guy will give him 35 grand and he’ll make them something that looks like it came from space, whereas most other hot rod shops will charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for what looks like every other hot rod.

And that’s $35000CAD so around $27000US.

Uhmm... I didn’t watch the video yet, but my first thought was that Lurch ha s really progressed on his craftsmanship since his early days on T he Munsters.
