Had a fun moment at yesterday’s track day when the back end of mini wanted to swap places with the front but since I am literally max verstappen* with my
orange helmet I kept it straight and under control.
Fair warning the onboard audio is completely terrible because my bootleg go-pro doesn’t have an external mic jack so you’re probably better off just muting it.

No, pretty sure we knew that would happen.

Nice recovery. I put an Alta on my C lubman because it never felt as snappy as my regular hard tops. The manual had dire warnings about putting it on anything more than the softest setting.

What is that a… oh nvm I see what you did there.

This is what happens when you have a big anti roll bar on the back of any car. Are your bars adjustable? If you want to dial that out it would be less stiff in the rear or more stiff in the front.

Woah that is some really good opposite lock right there. I didn’t even see the back end step out all that much but rather just a lot of steering correction and a Mini that never stopped going around a corner.

Loosey goosey!
Verstappen totally would have spun... :)

I felt it right before it let loose, I’m sure it didn’t help that the track and tires were
still semi-cold.

This is why I’m not going crazy with sway bars when I inevitably do the relatively minor suspension upgrades I’m planning for my Civic Si.

That was a great recovery.
Make it tight and practice flicking it into a tripod around corner. Slower, but fun-er.

Its a classic equation. FWD + Short wheel base + C old tires = S nap oversteer.

Yeah i got the rear bar set way too tight. Fun on backroads but not great for going fast around. Track.

front is a 27mm and rear is a 25.5mm.

Holy S** t, that’s my car! Now if ever there was a front wheel drive car that you couldn’t get snap oversteer , this was the car. I wish I knew more then than I do now because maybe I would have figured out why it was such a plow box. It just wouldn’t turn worth a lick.
Although had I known then what I knew now, I would have kept racing my uber successful ‘80 Rabbit ITB car and gone straight to my uber successful ‘88 CRX ITA car and skipped the Citation years.
Interesting fact I flat towed and later towed this on a trailer with another Citation X-11.
Below as newly built
Here it is in its last ride. We ran the 24 hours of Nelson Ledges. Finished third in class and sold it to an Ice Racer in Minnesota...

They do that stock, if I recall. We used to bump the front tire pressure up to 42, leave the rear at 38, and you’d get the rear to rotate around on you if you got off the throttle abruptly mid-turn. The guy I was autocrossing with showed me how to set up the car and told me it would so that, but I didn’t believe him until it happened.
Nice save.

I had this happen to me at grissom in mine back in the day. I was glad for the acres of asphalt.

PS, can you post a link to the picture. I can’t find it on Comicozzie for the event’s that I raced up there.....

The randomness of you being able to share that personal

here is awesome.

Holy crap- that’s your old car? I’ve posted that picture probably half a dozen times in the comments here. I thought it was so cool that someone was fully sending a Citation.
I’ve had it on my phone for almsot a year now - so it may take some digging to find a link. I’ll see what I can do though.
What was under the hood of that thing?

Just a 2.8 V6. Yep it was mine and the picture is of me driving it at Brainard. My friend raced a citation V6 and I thought the X-11 would be a good ITA car. It didn’t hurt that I worked for GM at Saginaw in ‘78 and ‘79 as a summer coop student to persuade me to build it.
I had a ‘80 Rabbit and the 2002 series BMW’s were starting to clean up in ITB and I decided to build an X-11 for ITA in 1990 . A college friend found it for me outside Ames Iowa. Potentially the X-11 had all the right stuff, and in fact the team that developed the X-ll at GM were a bunch of racers.
I figured that if Irv Hoerr and the Hacker brothers could make X body derivatives work, I could too. I was not exactly right. But that is another story....... I ran it till ‘94 when I ended upside down outside the carrossel at Blackhawk in it because I burned out a new set of front braked in one lap less than a 1/2 hour and decided this car would never win and ended up buying the ex Firehawk CRX Si that my buddy who raced the X-ll had also previously owned. Huey is another story.

By the way, you might want to check if the rear bar is binding in compression. My bar in the type r would hit the lower a arm when really compressed causing a vicious snap oversteer exactly when you didn’t want it. It took me years to figure it out.
Nothing says Oh S**** like having the back end snap at 100 mph at full load.

I found a link, but it shows your real name (I presume). Let me know if OK to post, or I can email it privately. Just don’t want to reveal personal info w/o your permission.

Try sending it to me with !!! for my first name if used and **** for my last in the link. if used. I am curious where Jerry has it as I just don’t see it on Comicozzie.

the email uses the gee male. Your name is in the photo caption, not the link itself.

Im gonna do bigger sway bars on my Accord, I'm doing the TL Type-S bars and hoping they won't be big enough to get me killed. I need to get to a yard and get the front bar. And to get coilovers or springs idk yet
