What a time to be alive!

Longer development time than the F-35

Jesus that looked easy. The way it goes from 300 to 315 is like nothing. Depending on gearing, I bet that thing could go 350.
I think it’s time we put this whole top speed thing to bed.

I remember seeing the SSC Tuatara back when it was a concept, before I was even a car person. Like, pre-2015. The fact that this actually became a real, record-setting car makes me really happy.

Fastest
“Production car”, anyway, as much as any of these ultra low volume boutique manufacturers can be called that.
Is this the first "production" car to break 300? Last I paid attention, the Chiron did like 280?

Unreal.
U-S-A! U-S-A!

Wait. They actually built one? And it runs and drives? Don’t tell me its possible to actually buy one now too. I thought this thing was more vapor than the steam above the last pot of pasta I cooked.

Wow. They managed it?
The rumors the other day made it sound like the number was good— yet—- that is truly astonishing.

And with fewer pilots passing out from oxygen deficiency...

Watching anything pull like that past the upper 100's low 2's is just crazy.

Tis insane. You can see that he kind of slowly rolls it up to 200 likes it’s nothing, holds it there, then starts accelerating again . Crazy

“My wife is a stunt skydiver, so she jumps out of airplanes for a living. She’s crazier than I am. Also, she’s not so into cars. She doesn’t know the true gravity of what I do, so that helps. She’s like, ‘You’re going to go quick in a straight line? No problem. See you tomorrow.’ ”

There should be a category for the fastest ‘accessible’ new car. i.e. you can walk into a dealership and buy one (or order one within a reasonable amount of time - 3 months?). This would eliminate the small production/waiting list/one-offs.
I’d guess a Corvette ZR1 or 911 Turbo S would still be the winner.

It took me a while to re alize that was 331 and not 231... good lord.

The modified Chiron managed 304 but only one way.

I didn’t think tire technology could handle these speeds. It looks like they used Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s (FUCKING STREET TIRES) for the run. Honestly, it’s amazing that they didn’t shred from the centrifugal forces.

So the first to "officially" do it according to Guinness rules. Neat.

I remember with the koeningseg (sp) it was to prevent heat buildup in the turbos, to save max power for the top end of what it could do. It's not hard for those cars to top 200 (unbelievable), so they don't bother letting heat build up pushing the engine to get there.

Right? Remember when this
thing first came out and it looked absolutely batshit insane? Now it's just another funny shaped hypercar.

That was my first thought too, what were the tires? They’ve got to be pushing 4000 rpms. That seems crazy for rubber.

Did he grab another gear at 240 MPH? Wow.

Saw one of these at the Quail and was not impressed with the technology and build quality. Yo u would not catch me going that fast in that car.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:59 |

It was still pulling at 330 too. I’m wondering if he backed out of it for tires, lack of road, or both.

So production cars don’t have mirrors anymore? Lol
![]() 10/19/2020 at 14:11 |

Cameras are the new mirrors
![]() 10/19/2020 at 14:29 |

I don’t know if I like this, I’m used to looking at my mirrors to see. If it’s better visibility though I could see it.

Thats so arbitrary though. What’s your cutoff? Is a limited spec 911 okay? Sure its “production”, but I’ll never see one in person, let alone have a chance to buy one. Once you get into this arena of performance, everything is ultra exclusive.

I 100% thought this thing was vapourware when it was announced, I think most people did. Consider me humbled.
What’s craziest to me is that he wasn’t even really the full powerband until he was already over 180mph. It almost looked like he just ran out of gearing at the end because it was not even starting to struggle. The car probably makes more power at speed too , with the turbos being force fed ram air from the intakes. I would not be surprised if it is capable of 340 or 350.
Insane, I kinda love it.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 18:54 |

So, I timed it. This goes from 260-320 as fast as I can go from 0-60

They stopped the development cycle of the F-35?
