Stevie Ray Vaughan is on Austin City Limits tonight. Great way to close out the day. Got damn, this guy was good.
RIP Stevie.

Got damn, this guy was good.
To put it mildly!
I was lucky enough to see him play on what turned out to be his final tour, about two months before the helicopter crash. Absolutely mind-bending. His co-headliner - some Brit named Joe Cocker, maybe you’ve heard of him - wasn’t half bad either, but that ensemble was not nearly as tight as Double Trouble.
It’s stunning to me that I’m now much older than SRV ever got to be. I don’t think I realized at the time that he was only 35.

When SRV was popular on the radio, probably with Crossfire, I wasn’t that impressed. Now that I’m 30 years older, and wiser, I sit and listen in awe. When SRV was born, God reached out and touched his hands and said, “You will play guitar.”
From Wiki: Vaughan declared: “I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist—he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I’m not sure if he even played the guitar—he played music.”
SRV played music.

SRV’s version of Little Wing is exquisite.
