My son was with my mom earlier this week and my dad came by to visit. My son loves cars of course so my dad brought over his Carrera (1 one 6 Porsches he has, 2 of which are Carreras. There’ s this one and then he has a Black convertible). He wanted to pose with the car and asked my mom to take the pics. She took the pics alright. But her damn iPhone camera was set to panorama mode and warped the pics. “Sometimes I think I need a flip phone.” she says.

There are some of us folks past 50 who know how to use a smart phone. Besides, I’ve seen too many vertical videos from kids that might look OK on a phone, but are lousy on anything else.

There is also some blame for bad app design. A good camera app knows which settings to return to default every time you open the app. It’s fine to leave the flash setting persisting between usage, but the app should open up in the basic photo mode each time.

Hes a car kid in general. Kid wants me to buy everything from a Veloster N to a GTR. Good thing though me and my dad keep him going with it though. My dad said he would leave him one of the Carrera’s.

Blame can be placed on both her and the phone. In her attempt to zoom for whatever reason, she swiped and somehow selected pano. And with iPhones, whatever camera mode you choose last will still be selected when you reopen the camera. So I checked in her phone and she has a bunch of pics that are just like this.

My dad just got an iPhone and it’s almost sad how much he struggles with it. If it had more buttons and was harder to use I think he would do better with the iPhone. Last pic he sent:

If photo is the last setting you used then that’ s why. Its not defaulted to photo, just the last setting that was used. So if you took a slo mo video then closed out the camera and went back and used it again, it would open on slo mo.

Mine is 62, and will hold the phone way out in front and spend about 5 minutes figuring out if that's the angle she wants, then still take two pictures "in case the first one doesn't come out"

I know it was on accident, but it’s kind of a cool picture. Clean up the focus a bit, add some over exposure blowouts on the edges and it’ll have a ‘90s retro look.
