I searched on the forums for a low coolant warning. It can either be normal with the change of seasons, parking on not level ground, or the system burping air from the factory after a few thousand miles. It took about 3 cups of distilled water into its 6ish gallon reservoir. The other alternative is the traditional leak somewhere in the system.
Today will be a 5 hour round trip drive with it so we shall see how it pans out. Will it follow in the Morgan’s footsteps or the Viper?

This hits close to home. The radiator in my old Miata cracked the night before I was set to do a 4000km road trip. Ended up taking the 3 and I’ve always lamented how I wanted to take the “funner” one on that trip.

I’ve made the mistake of not checking coolant manually before big driving days.

As echoed in other comments, keep an eye on the temperatures for sure.

Luckily yes it's for a follow up eye appointment but the way there is back roads and ferries.

Enjoy the trip! Hopefully the coolant issue doesn't become a whole "thing".

Doing the good work for us Oppos! I pretend my garage is flexible to swaps, you really do it!
Any recent coolant work? I did a radiator upgrade and coolant reroute on my NB Miata and it needed to be burped twice essentially... took some driving to move the air around.
