Two things, actually...

• BMWs are nightmares, whether two wheels or four.

• I still love them.

Finally got this heap back from the shop after getting an entirely new wiring harness (something way above my patience level to install), tires, GS bars, and an overall going-over because it’s a 35yr old German thing that exists.

I guess I learned a 3rd thing, and that is that two-wheeled Bavarians don’t mean half-price shop bills. *sighs in German*

That is a good looking bike and a beautiful photo.

While I’ve always wanted a BMW, these reasons you’ve laid out are why I’ve stuck with Japanese bikes...

I keep looking at old K100s because I love the look of them. The F650GS is appealing to me. The old weird R1200c even appeals to me.

There are quite a few BNW bikes that are speaking to me. But I’m afraid of cost and reliability. Altho I felt the same way about BMW cars before I bought my E90 and it’s turned out alright.

I had a 2005 F650GS and I miss it dearly, but holy hell it was a nightmare to work on. BMW makes beautiful motos in my opinion, but I can’t get behind the complexity.

Thank you!

I wish I could say buying the Airhead was a great decision. It was not.

It says how much better a decision you made when I had to buy a Honda to ride while the bmw is broken. #facepalm

The old K bikes are an interesting bunch for sure. I almost bought a K75 but it didn’t have as much personality as the airhead, and I was worried it would cost more to maintain.

The airhead is a much simpler bike, but I’m sure I’ve spent more on it than I ever would’ve on the K.

I love the GS bikes too. I’ve heard lots of good about the 650s

This is a very relevant statement.

I’ve always dug the GS bikes, but was worried about complexity, so I went old, simple, robust, air-cooled.

Turns out it doesn’t matter much which one you have, they’re all terrifying. But you’re right, there’s just something about them...

I have an old honda (71 CB500) and was tired of it breaking down and it taking a few weeks each time to repair so I bought a new Honda.

I kept the old bike too as well .

Hahaha heck yeah!

That’s a good combo you’ve got there. Love those classic CBs
