Canoeing has become my new favorite hobby, and like all of my other hobbies before, I don’t know how to do something casually. So I’ve become obsessed with learning about different canoes, reading books about both canoe paddling and canoe building, and just looking at pictures of canoes.

And even though most boats look downright beautiful on the water where they belong , I’ve realized there is something iconic about a canoe on the roof of a car. Maybe I am letting my nostalgia glasses get the better of me, but enjoy these pictures that were not taken by me.

There is a Sawyer in our backyard someone got for free that I really want to fix up but I think it is going to take an entire canoes worth of fiberglass to fix it. It doesn’t seem worth it to me who has never done fiberglass or any canoe repair but it might work for someone

In high school, Zwart worked as a veterinary assistant in order to save enough money to eventually purchase a yellow Porsche 914/6. In 1997 he ran that same 914/6 in the 10,000 mile, 25 day, Panama to Alaska Rally winning second place overall.

Got one on Project $400Runner right now. Wife and I got a steal before the pandemic so we’ve been canoeing all over this summer/fall. We love it!

I don’t canoe much anymore so I sold it as I mostly Kayak nowadays, but I have spent a lot of time in canoes and love it!

I enjoy canoe ing quite a bit, and I agree that canoes can look really good on cars. The first two photos are of my cars/canoe over the years, the third is one of my favorites that I’ve spotted:

What material is yours made out of?

It’s carbon-kevlar, weighs about 19lbs.

The boat itself is a Slipstream Watercraft Impulse 13.  I love it; very maneuverable and pretty fast in the water for a canoe.

Kayaking is pretty big where I live. But the MR2 would never take one, so I’m looking into inflatables.

Not ideal but the only choice available to me :)
