That is how you go deaf.

All my local autoX events have a 91 dB limit, but at 50’ away. I’m not sure whether or not this would be over or not.
Either way, that sounds intensely good.

Sounds great. Makes me sad that the race team switched to flat plane cranks. Again.

dB readings are exponential so the scale of reduction over distance can be tricky to predict. A quick googling suggests it could be as much as 20-30dB lower at 50' though. A lot of other factors could affect that too.

I did/do test exhausts like this the way the cops would. Donut put a video out a few months ago when there was that big exhaust law scare.

Correct, people think like from 90 to 100 db isnt that far, but it is actually a lot.

maybe they are testing it to end up in the back of the Z06 or ZR1.

Am I the only person that doesn’t like the C8? I think it’s ugly, and it looks worse in person.
I personally think the only good thing about it is that the older “Corvette owner” stereotype-person would not want it.
While I have thought the C2 and C3s were the best looking Corvettes, I always thought a lot of the engineering with Corvettes was dumb; like, why is the floor made of wood? Did they really use transverse-mounted leaf-springs for the rear suspension? A "4+3" transmission? Really?

whaaaa? do you also hate Ferrari 458/488s?

The 458 doesn’t do it for me, but the 488 does.
I like both iterations of the Acura MDX, I liked the Alfa 4c, I would totally own a Porsche Boxster, but I don’t know about the Cayman, Lamborghinis are bitchin, Audi R8s are awesome, but the C8 Corvette just looks ugly as sin.
GM screwed the pooch on this one.
If you or anyone else thinks the C8 is the tits, good on ya mate. I'm not going to tell you you're wrong, because that ain't cool.

Oh, and let's not forget that the mid-engine machines that Lancia and Alpina have cranked out absolutely gorgeous.

I had to look up the wood floors thing. Looks like it’s just a regular carbon-balsa sandwich. Balsa cores for composites are pretty common across all uses. Cores, of any type, allow less of the expensive composite to be used, while adding thickness that increases bending and buckling strength.
Weren’t the transverse leaf springs lighter than the equivalent spring + thicker roll bar? I do also recall hearing they never had a warranty failure. Thougy I’m n ot sure how common a coil spring warranty failure is.
The 4+3 is just weird. I dont understand that one either.

The only thing I ever understood about the Corvette's design was using fiberglass for the body, that always made sense.

Cannot stand the C8's design. It’s a visual mess: o verwrought lines and strangely-odd proportions.

Probably. And I'm sure it will be amazing. But aurally, flat plane motors just don't do it for me. YMMV

Weight savings. That’s one of the reasons the C6 Z06 only weighs about 3,100 lbs.
Ah, yes. This old chestnut. Leaf springs!?! Like a pickup!?! No. Not at all. Pickups use several heavy, thick leaves made of steel connected to a solid axle to bear heavy loads. Usually takes two guys to carry one. C orvettes used a single composite spring that was light enough to hold in one hand. Since it was transversely mounted as well, it also pulled double duty as a sway bar. It also takes up less space than a pair of coils, allowing for smaller packaging.
The Doug Nash 4+3 was a stopgap used while GM was transitioning from the traditional 4-speeds of the C3 days to more modern 6-speeds. It was replaced by a ZF 6-speed unit.
