I discovered this car by accident really. My son was playing Forza on the Xbox and bought a Z/28 in the game. For whatever reason though he didn’ t think it was real (He’s 9) . He thought it was an in game Camaro with mods . I explained to him it was a real Camaro variant. And then proceeded to show him some for sale. I didn’ t expect to find any for sale locally and this one, the only one within 100 miles showed up.
At an Orange County dealership called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , its one of those places that has Lambos and Rolls and is in a random business park that only does business by appointment only so you wont waste their time. Its a 2015 Z/28. So its of the 5th gen of the Camaro but after the 2014 refresh and reintroduction of the Z/28. This example is damn near brand new with only 336 miles on the clock. It was probably garaged and driven mostly to local C&C’s on the weekend . The dealer states that it was driven only 107 miles. The monster 7 liter 505 horse V8 remains stock as well as the rest of the car. Its pretty damn clean. Asking price? $85,888. Keep in mind the MSRP of this thing when new was $76,150.

I like everything about it except for e ve rything about the styling!

Cool but CP. Both asking and MSRP.

Really? Personally I think the 5th gen Z/28 and ZL1's are the only 2 of this gen that aged well.

For me, the problem is that THIS exists for $15k less

You’ d have to really want this gen of Z/28 specifically to drop nearly $90k on this and not a newer ZL1.

And yet my 13 Boss 302 continues slide in value.
Sigh

Not a good price, these things sat new unsold for a few years on dealer lots. No Radio, no A/C, and a stiff as shit suspension means that most weren’t driven.

It looks like it’s allergic to something or has been stung by bees. I just think they look bloated. The gun-slit greenhouse has never appealed to me either. So many vents and creases and haunches. It’s too busy. I don’t like it. I can’t help but think if EVERY element was toned down it would look like a serious, grown- up car to go along with the serious, grown-up chassis and power train.

Total CP. I keep an eye on the 5th gen Z/28 market and they’ve dipped into the 30's. 40's are very common, even for low mile examples. If prices remain low or get lower, they’ll be at the very top of my list when I’m in a position to spend $30ish on something.

I spent a good chunk of 2011/12
designing those tail light lenses. Designing, not styling. I just had to make their silly style work. As much as I like seeing stuff that I’ve worked on personally, I’m glad those ones only lasted a couple of years. The new ones are much nicer IMO.

Hello fellow CA oppo

I had no idea you could get a 427 in those.
Good on your son for his interest though. Start them young! My 8yr old came across me reading the jalopnik review on the g wagen the other day and exclaimed “mercedes makes a jeep?”

I think the lights look good! I just think everything else is way overblown. I am not the target market, and the styling certainly hasn’t hurt sales, it wouldn’t seem.

I would consider myself a GM guy, but both the mustang and the challenger look so much better. They had (have?) a blue 392 challenger in the foyer of the brampton assembly plant and it was so badass.

Would be pretty fantastic bought with miles and wear
for cheap-ish if you want a track-only
car. Chris Harris loved his; I can’t imagine the looks he got driving that thing in England.

I would agree with both of those looking better than the Camaro.
I think Detroit could take a lesson from the guys at Nissan (which is r eal odd to write) who penned the new Z car. Simple, clean lines with a very obvious, though updated nod to the past. I think they succeeded with that design by bringing the design back to clean sheet metal with minimal fussy add-ons.

Came here to say this. These things sat on dealer lots for ages. I thought about picking one up brand new more than a year after they went out of production. I do think this is one of those cars that we’re going to look back at really fondly in 30 years because of the racebred engine/suspension and rarity but I’m going crackpipe on that price. They were selling 15k under sticker when new a couple years ago.

I think it had a lot of buyers remorse. Same thing I see with the Focus RS. People went into them thinking race/ I’m gonna love this thing and it turned out to be too hardcore even for the most hardcore enthusiast. Combine that with an MSRP that insured only older folks with money and bad knees and backs could afford them and there you have it.

Yea like I pointed out, this one was the only 5th gen Z/28 in California. And our performance cars here are usually overpriced. But from what I saw in the rest of country, they go for the mid 30s to the mid to high 40s now. To bad for a track focused machine.

Hey what’s up. Always happy to see another Cali person on here.

Oh yea my son is another me when it comes to cars. Probably even Moreno than me. He’s starting to know his stuff. His dream car is a Bugatti EB110 Super Sport. I didn’t even know he knew what that was.
That’s cute though. Get em started young like you said. The fact that your kid equated G Wagon with Jeep shows something is there.

Yeah there are at least a handful of us.
