I assume it’s a Factory Five car since I live just a couple miles away from their HQ

I like these  C o bras and in a way, the replicas are better.

Yeah probably, that one looks a lot better than those tarted up replicas, looks almost real at a distance.

I had higher hopes for the 818. My 25 year old self would have loved the 818 even if it did fall short of expectations.  I can probably afford it now but my older self doesn’t have the same attraction to it. I wonder if that would be different if I lived really close.   Eliminating most of the shipping cost would be enticing.

How did it fall short?

Agreed. I wouldn’t be so nervous about stompi ng on the gas pedal of a replica. In an original, I’d probably be slower than a grandma going to church.

You probably wouldn't even drive an original more than a few hundred miles a year either.

I might have overstated that as I am probably nitpicking. Some minor peeves are that some of the other body designs looked better and that it seems very difficult to come in under $15k all in. Once you get to that level you might as well heavily mod a Miata or a something else that is easier to resell down the road.  With any kit type car you are probably going to take a hit and you know that going in (same with restoring a vintage car) but the resale is harder to do with a really niche vehicle.

I’ve never priced one out so I’m clueless, but I do like the the car’s shape. FFR considered using Ford’s 2.3 Ecoboost motor, which at 300hp+ would’ve made for a seriously motivated car. But it’s still a kit car so resale is limited to a much smaller group of buyers. I don’t know if FFR Cobra owners get all their money back when they sell, but at least that car is well known.

I like the Cobra but when I was thinking more seriously back in the day it was the Daytona Coupe. I don’t think they got much love or improvement as the Cobra looks great and the Coupe is a little cheesy when you look at closeups.

The guy’s visiting; see the PA plates. Like someone else said, most FFR Cobras get tarted up while this one is pretty bare bones.
