Kinja'd!!!

The last time I built an engine for the Trans Am I was in high school and did the whole thing on an hilariously small minimum wage lifeguard budget (fully documented on Oppo too). It was one of my biggest mistakes to date. Ever since that engine went in 7 years ago, I’ve had nothing but struggles and most of the problems were related to how cheap I was and the shortcuts I made. I vowed the next time would be different and here we are.

Seven years later I have an engineering degree, a job in the auto industry, and way more wisdom than the last time I was in this position. Being an engineer in the powertrain space has significantly impacted my parts selection, I’ve used a combination of employee discounts and Rockauto (endless 5% discounts!) to go and make a mostly OEM/Tier 1 supplier parts list. I know the quality and work involved in part production and have seen first hand how crappy some reproduction parts are in comparison.

Still to be purchased or currently in the mail are a new Chevy bellhousing, accessory conversion brackets, a FiTech Ultimate LS induction/harness kit, Holley LS swap manifolds and motor mounts, and a new fuel injection fuel tank/pump kit and all the corresponding hardware

All this going on my 2007 Gen III 5.3 smallblock you’ve seen previously.

Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance yet. My engine, my welder, and myself are in three different places right now. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to attempt an extraction in the next couple weeks.

It’s 60s Pontiac blue engine paint, has a fantastic metallic sparkle to it.

Kinja'd!!!

I like it way more than the production year correct color corporate blue. Car isn’t even close to original so why not go with something more fun.

Good LuK

What do you think of NGK wires? They come in a snazzy blue color and are numbered.

Be glad you don’t have a 4th gen because those are impossible to work on!

NGK is fine , they’re the Tier 1 supplier to many OEM companies. Just stay away from Joe Bob’s Discount Wire Den (tm)
