It started with noticing the wheels look an awful lot like they belong on a Dodge Stealth ES.
Close, but no cigar. While looking at the Stealth, t he similarities in spoilers hit me though . Then add to this just having the c oncept of a light bar ac ross the rear. Wait a minute, the whole car’s not dissimilar from what a further melted Lamborghini Portofino might look like.
Chrysler had a healthy working relationship with ASC at the time and even went on to design the roof for the Stealth convertible. I wonder if it was ASC saying,
“We’re not designers, but it would be nice to have a whole car to promote our product. Let’s use the Portofino as a starting point. Chrysler won’t sue, we’re partners”
Or, Chrysler told them to do it.
Or,
Chrysler
gave them an old
work-
in-
progress
design. Maybe the Dodge Stealth wheels were left
overs from the Portofino project
.
Or, coincidence.
