I wouldn’t put too much in that. I look at the ADS-B sites regularly and often see those E-6s. Yesterday was also the first day of October, when the budgets reset, and there’s lots of money to burn for aviation fuel.

And that dude just kept driving into the fireball? Over on The Warzone, there’s lots of videos of Armenian tanks getting nailed one after another by Turkish-supplied drones. Wouldn’t want to be a tanker over there right now.

I don’t think I’d want to be a tanker ever. Sure, you get armor, but you are also a target from everyone up from a lonley infantryman with an RPG to a jet fighter doing close air support.

Probably no surprise that the Marines are getting rid of all their tanks .

If you got the jet fuel, might as well use this as a training opportunity

I’m no expert in US military arms, but I’ve always felt that the marines, outside of WWII have been a really ill-defined branch.

I’m no expert either, but perhaps you are right, at least post Korea where there are no more beach invasions.

Tanks feel massively obsolete right now. If you have air superiority, you can use it to dominate enemy tanks with airpower, so you don’t need tanks to fight tanks. If you don’t have air superiority, your own tanks are going to get crushed from the air, so they won’t be any help against enemy armor. So for tanks to be relevant, you need a perfectly balanced situation in the air where both sides maintain enough air power to take out the enemy’s CAS planes and helicopters. And even in that rare case, it’s quite possible that lighter ground vehicles would do the job better. For example in the first Gulf War, Bradley IFV s with their TOW missiles killed more Iraqi armor than the Abrams tanks with their guns. And to get that questionable utility you have to deal with the logistics of moving and supplying the heavy and thirsty tanks.

There’s an E-6B in the air right now over Florida.

Wait. So a plane can do a strange manoeuvre
to help send signals in the event of communication breakdown due to nuclear war. How does that relate to the President picking up a virus?
