GMC and sedan delivery are two odd things to go together on an Advance Design. At the time, the GMC version really was a step up - fancier engine hardware, interior, and a lot of other parts. Some parts out of stainless or chromed for longer life or “staying pretty”. Normally, a sedan delivery is a fleet vehicle with only the bare essentials, and a GMC truck would be the slightly snobbier private owner.
I’d have expected the heater to be fitted by this stage of assembly, but it looks kind of like a blanking plate is in place. Did somebody order a GMC for the fancier engine compartment goodies and interior, and maybe some mechanical hardware and then delete-sheet every. single. other. thing possible?
How very odd.

Beats me. But wouldn’t it be cool to have a factory fresh one of those right now?

Quite. I goof on some Chevy “all time classic” designs like the ‘57 sedan, but there’s something about the Advance Design line I just can’t hate. I’ve got a 1:18 scale Advance Design sedan delivery die-cast on my cabinet at work with me right now, actually.
Like this one, but out of the box:

I’m reminded now of this photograph I took some years ago. I was taking pictures of my son’s soccer practice when this drove by. I love the evening light. No idea what the vehicle is, but the patina is awesome.

I think it’s a ‘51 Chevy coach conversion, though I could be wrong . Here’s a ‘50 C hevy hearse, very similar :
Also with lots of patina, obviously.
