Delaware is finally getting commercial airline service. No longer will its fair citizens live under the boot of neighboring states’ airports.

For when a Company exec wants to visit their companies tax avoidance po box Head Quarters, they can now fly direct.

I forgot that Delaware was a state. Not gonna lie. Maybe that’s why no one was flying there! Do the other airlines know D elaware is a state?

Delaware and a couple of its neighboring states combined would fit inside of my county in Southern NM.

But, seriously, I remember United making a big deal out of “flying to all 50 states”... for about 10 minutes 30 years ago. Didn’t they fly here and to Fargo and Cheyenne briefly on a bar bet?

No company incorporates in Delaware to “save taxes”. Their corporate franchise baseline tax structure is nutty...

Why else would anyone fly to Fargo instead of Grand Forks?

Flathead County: 5256 sq miles
Delaware : 2, 489 sq miles
Yep.

Delaware is one of my favorite places to vacation.

It’s because of their corporate law, not taxes. Also, even if you are incorporated in Delaware, you still have no reason to ever ever go there. :)

When I was a kid we would fly in to Fargo to visit my grandparents in MN, it was closer than flying into Minneapolis. Good memories flying in on Northwest DC-9s and sometimes a 727.

New Castle is a nice airport. By nice, I mean small and old fashioned, which does make for a better experience. However, I expect this will be limited to a few popular vacation destinations in Florida and that will be it. Seeing as how Philadelphia is only about 45 minutes away , it won’t make financial sense to offer much more.

Service will end once DelDOT figures out how to put EZ-Pass on an airplane and charge extortionate tolls.

As a Pennsylvanian transplant, I’m doing my part to help recover the three wayward Lower Counties for our Commonwealth.

Conversely, they could lure Philly travelers away with the promise of better deals. I believe Allegiant already does this in Allentown (mostly to FL), but this would be on the other side of town.

I’ll do what I can to take a bite out of Ohio while I’m still in Michigan. Then we can just burn the rest. Or make it into another lake.

That would make a lot of sense, I'd take Lehigh Valley over PHL any day.

And how nice that they’re getting air service from Frontier, one of the lowest (customer satisfaction - wise) rated airlines ever. Enjoy.

Not that Delaware has much room to talk, about half of this state is kind of a hell hole. Between Wilmington’s crime, all the depressed little postindustrial towns s outh of the canal, the run down trailer parks, the contaminated ground water, and all the meth and opiate problems. This state has serious issues once you step away from the beaches in Sussex and the chateau country in New Castle that someone really needs to start working on.

Is having no airport better than flying Frontier, s hould be the question.

It would probably take Delawareans longer to drive to a neighboring state airport than it takes me to drive to AUS. This has nothing to do with convenience and everything to do with those sweet tax dollars.

it’ll likely fail...again. B ut on the off chance it doesn’t maybe it’d get me a few cheap convenient flights. I’m 10 minutes from that airport and occasionally do some work there. My largest account is across the street.
Many don’t realize how many private aircraft are registered here. It’s also a reconditioning hub for Da ssault Falcon.
The Concorde landed t here when I was 13...that was pretty cool.

I’ve done BHM-ATL a few times (a 2.5-hour drive or a 30-40 minute flight) and it just feels crazy. They don’t even break 10,000' in most cases...but they have drink service. It’s very hurried.
Usually a part of a deal where it’s cheaper to book something with a connection than to go direct.
![]() 01/28/2020 at 16:24 |

My kalispell to Seattle flight is 1:15 going west and 0: 55 going east. They do drink service about 75% of the time on the way back depending on turbulence . If you are in the back they give you your drink, then produce a trash back for you to discard it.
