Update: she rolls again. Tomorrow’s commute is gonna get SLIDEWAYS.
Spending a some time before I go to bed tonight seeing if I’ve managed to find a compatible starter for my 88’ Eagle.

Oooooh, back in the day we contemplated a V8 eagle as an ice racing car. How horrible of an idea is it?.....

The car’s 4WD with studded tires is amazing on ice. If you had a V8 that mated to a manual transmission and still used the transfer case or a Jeep’s T-Case it’d be amazing.

Refresh my memory, did they come with a V8 option?

Not that I’m aware of. Was either the 4.2L straight 6 or the 2.46L 4 banger.
With how long the I6 is you could make quite a few V8’s and likely some V10’s fit “ under” the hood.
Pretty sure I’ve read about someone slipping the Grand Wagoneer’s 8 fit an Eagle though.

The Spirit AMX was the same platform and offered a 304 V8 mated to a manual. The issue with the Eagle is with the front differential and suspension. The front diff mounts to the 258's block. It would be difficult to maintain the original setup with a V8. You could always swap to an XJ Dana 30 solid axle if you were so inclined.

That little bracket is why I had to HEAVILY modify the stainless headers for my exhaust. The IFS bracket is right where all the solid axle Jeeps ran their exhaust.
