I always thought it was an Oppo thing to say when you buy a car but I’ve now seen it in a few non-Opp o car and motorcycle groups.

Existential Oppo!

I always thought it was an adaptation of “I mended a thing,” which is a known car meeeem, meh-may?  I remember posting “I bought a thing” back in 2014 because I noticed other posts involving major vehiclular   purchases were titled thusly on Oppo. Monkey see, monkey do.

2014 is further back than I can remember seeing that phrase. Maybe we are subtle geniuses and don’t now it. I say “we” but I’ve only had authorship around a month and my viewership doesn’t go too much beyond that.

Well “I did a thing” was a measurable Google search term back as far back as Jan 2004 (the oldest date you can search in Google timeline) so I will say no, not Oppo.

Probably Reddit or even Something Awful. But my money is on Reddit.
