Yesterday I learned that he had a sitcom in 2019 called Warren about an irascible driving instructor. I’ve loved watching his other series, even Reggie Perrin (sort of - not the best material, but a good performance) and documentaries, and had high hopes for this one. But  after watching an episode I understand why the BBC didn’t pick this up for another series...

I liked Men Behaving Badly when I was younger, though not really all that funny now. I liked him in Doc Martin, but sometimes I think it’s a bit much. I never saw Reginald Perrin as I grew up with the original one from the late 1970s and remakes rarely are as good.

I watched one episode of Warren last year, it was the funeral one, just wasn’t funny. There are too many all too similar comedies on the TV right now.

Never saw the original Perrin . MBB didn’t really hold my attention, perhaps a little too juvenile. He was good in Saving Grace , a movie I need to re-watch.

Ye’, MBB is juvenile now, but back then it was funny, at the time there was several other TV shows on the same sort of theme.

I think I was in my forties when I discovered MBB; it might have been more interesting if I saw it in my twenties as it would be a little more relatable. Coupling was a show I discovered around the same time that was more interesting to me, probably because a lot of the situations hit home at that time in my life.

Ye’, MBB came out when I was 12-13, so it seemed funny, watching two grown up men acting awkwardly around women, sort of made being 13 and awkward around women not to bad.

I love Coupling, it’s the only show I can watch over and over and still find it funny. I watched a little of the U.S. version, didn’t find it as fun ny, but you probably found the reverse and didn’t find the U.K. one as funny or relatable.

This was an interesting watch, especially as I didn’t know they did a U.S. MBB (it looks awful, I mean absolutely dreadful).

Quite the opposite, actually. I generally don’t like American remakes of British programs; I didn’t like the American versions of Coupling or The Office having seen the British versions first . They   just seem wrong and half-assed in comparison. The only programs where that hasn’t applied was with All In The Family and Sanford & Son , and that’s because I was young when those came out and I’ve never seen the British programs on which they’re based.

Over the last few days I’ve been re- downloading some of my favorite britcoms to watch again, including Chef!, Are You Being Served, Waiting for God and As Time Goes By. I probably already have them some where, either on disintegrating DVDS  or one of the dozens and dozens of hard drives I have laying around, but I can never find them when I want to watch them...

If you like As Time Goes By (I love it), check out A Fine Romance, it’s from 1981-84 and stars Dame Judi Dench and Michael Williams who was her real life husband.

Here’s all the episodes (bar episode one from season one for some reason).

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

((if it doesn’t show all of the episodes, check out the guy that posted this v ideo, he has all the others in his library)).

Awesome! Thanks for the tip.

And what are you doing up at this hour? You must be quite the night owl...

I work nights, so when it’s my night off, I just keep the same routine (if you could call it a routine after 17 years).

I’m back at work tonight, Tuesday and Thursday.

I’ve two weeks off at the end of the month, yay.
