So instead of working on something I’ve been putting off like a lazy asshole   the curious surfer that I am, I decided to peruse CL for cars before 1970.

Instead of your typical Chevy Bel Airs (ew) junky Corvettes (eh) and clapped-out MGB’s (aw), I find a god-damned Saab Sonett for Miata Money!

Seriously, one of you Bay Area Opponauts has to be just crazy enough to go home with this thing! Imagine rolling into Laguna Seca Cars and Coffee a V4 powered vintage rally machine!

There is an orange one near me, it is cool but they are built like a carnival ride. I am much happier in the Z I think.. I examined the one near me since you don’t see them often, I found it pretty janky.

Right? I got my Miata for $ 5600, so the fact that there are several classics you can get for around the same money gives me hope.

For the price it’s pretty underrated. I mean once you buy it you will be a Saab enthusiast and those are an unusual bunch of people. They’re similar to 80s/90s VW enthusiasts. They WILL tell you why they’re so ‘cool’ and better than other makes. Maybe that’s my experience, or maybe one of those people will chime in... that would confirm my stereotype :)

Yeah, I feel that way about both Miata and Lotus owners. They would love to tell you about their car once you ask! Plus, they’re both pretty quirky groups.

When I raced in SpecMiata I’d have to explain myself because unless the person was an enthusiast, they’d think the Miata was a hairdressers car. It is a hairdressers car, but a fun one at that!

Hah, I had something similar happen to me when I visited a friend working at a junkyard. Some blowhard heard I drove a Miata and asked me how could I feel like a man driving a women’s car.

I told him I didn’t suffer from “tiny dick” syndrome, so I didn’t need a muscle car lmao! He was PISSED!
