This is the first truck that I like, that isn’t 3-5 hours away. Might have to take a trip to Duluth this Saturday.
Pros:
Manual, red, single cab, Toyota, low miles, 4 banger should mean better fuel economy.
Cons:
Not a V8, price would most likely mean a 5 year loan for me. Not a TRD so no locking/lsd rear diff.
The fact that it a 4x4 is a neural for me. 4x4 means you can have red neck fun, and probably won’t get stuck in the snow, but also I like lowered trucks, and 4x2s are considerably cheaper in the North land.

Seems like a lot for a 2.7 single cab..
would go with one of these first;

It’s amazing that an 8 year old truck that had an MSRP of maybe $24-25k still commands 15k. I would go for it if it didn’t have rust and you could talk them down a bit on price. Financing through the dealercould help on price.

That one in St. Cloud is great. SR-5 package is a huge plus. The other one has 200,000 miles. So that’s a hard pass.

do you want a pickup or just a BOF truck?

While the TRD rear locker is fantastic, Toyota’s ALSD brake based system also works surprisingly well. Especially on as compact and light a truck as that one, I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker unless some really serious off-road use is planned.

You know... the PT Cruiser is a classified as a Truck
Pros:
Can get it with a manual, can get with or without a turbo, has the prestige of the Chrysler brand, comes standard with quad cab, the ‘bed’ is fully enclosed so you don’t need to buy a cap, you can extend the bed by folding down the seats, it’s a 4 banger so it will also have better fuel economy.
Cons:
None that I can think of.
/I might be biased.

I want a pick up. Mainly to easily load and unload mountain bikes with out having to slide them into a vehicle, clamp them onto a rack, or worry about getting an interior muddy

Yeah. They trade number on my car would also play a huge factor.

Those whimsy “brush guards” really are bad. When I worked at a dealership I saw plenty of them that would bend just from the wind resistance of driving, which resulted in painted being rubbed off the fenders. Which of coarse leads to rust. What’s really funny is when you see one that’s bent outwards from the middle because some dipstick attempted to use it as a tow point.

“ You know... the PT Cruiser is a classified as a Truck”
So is your mom, but she’s not very good at hauling mountain bikes.
