File to: Brool Story Co;
I almost bought one of those as my first car ages ago. It was a manual and cheap and that was about all I could afford to mandate. Thankfully I opted to wait and found a much nicer Mercury Tracer LTS a bit later that I still sorely miss driving.

That’s one of the towns I’ve never been to

You didn’t miss much, They’re a pointy K-car for the most part. They sold about a jillion of them, and 8 year old dash thought they were some hot shit (also known as the Laser, which I remember spelled with a ‘z’ but my memory is wrong. )

I remember it scooting around town in recent years. People who had Aerostars Swore by them and drove them until the rust came up to the windows.

Very cool looking.
I liked the Daytona/Laser rear hatch and quarter window treatment, with the forward canted B-pillar, especially with those T-tops.
But being a FWD K-car... the Mustang was better. The A70 Supra was WAY better, as proper RWD cars that looked similar.
If the Daytona had been a re-styled Starion/Conquest, and a RWD Mitsubishi, it would have been properly engineered to match the looks.

There’s no good reason to. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Well, the wings there are good, but that's it.

I’m guessing grain elevator, C hinese restaurant, hotel bar, and probably a place that either does stained glass or sells antiques and beads. Am I close?

I know I badmouthed them recently, But this one is Really nice, and I suspect it belongs to a local family of Turbo Mopar enthusiasts.

From wikipedia:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Following the Chrysler takeover of Lamborghini , product programs general manager Jack Stavana introduced a program to fit a Lamborghini Jalpa V8 into a Daytona. The motor was linked to an all-wheel drive (AWD) system designed by Lotus UK and the car was called the Decepzione . Despite its performance and media buzz generated by articles in Car and Driver magazine, the project was discontinued because of the engine’s oil pan having just 1.5 inches (38.1 mm) of ground clearance, necessitated by the comparatively tall engine block.
Were you aware of this? you’d be the oppo who was if anyone.

That’s one of those cars that I didn’t think much of back when they were all over the place
, but now I’d love to have one, if only for nostalgia sake..

Basically. The grocery store in town closed. I didn't notice until three weeks after it did. Small town!

I would imagine that very few have survived. I find all kinds of oddball cars out in the country, behind shops, etc. This is the first 84 style Daytona I’ve seen in a donkey’s age.

I had a distant cousin way back in the day that had the Shelby Z version of the Daytona, although I believe his was a later model, as it had the pop-up headlights. It was such a badass car to young me.
But yeah, honestly can’t recall the last time I saw one in person.

A friend of mine had a manual Aerostar. We took it Off-roading all the time. It would seriously go anywhere we wanted it to. Decent off-road capability for a rwd minivan.

I saw a 5 speed one once. it was a panel van with rear barn doors for the win!
