...found 4 days later LUCKILY only because the police pulled the thief over and ran the plate, which was now the wrong plate for the bike, looking like this

me thinks the thief took a bit more effort than just spray painting it all blue to try get away with this one

Wow that sucks. I had a bmx bike stolen once and found some one riding a week later. He’d spray painted all flat black.

I was more upset about it getting painted than it getting stolen.

Also yeah thrives are the worst.

Ouch! What turds.

Bikes are easy to steal, fence, and swap VINs. Sad that the OEMs never did much to combat it from the factory.

Convicted thieves should be forced to wear oven mits when in public. Makes them visible and makes sure they keep their sticky fingers to themselves. Pricks

Is it bad that I like the “after” bike better?

It’s not a bad design but if you look closely the red on the tank doesn’t match the red on the fenders and rear plastics.

No bueno

I’m sure the thief was planning to get to that eventually...

I like the coppery red though.

My bike is stored In my garage at night, parked in a lot at work covered by gates and security, and in eyesight at the front door At the gym. However, any other time I still get paranoid when I park.

Having seen guys roll up with a shoebox (Chevy Astrovan, etc.) with three dudes and shove it inside, I’m surprised more bikes aren’t stolen than there already are! Glad to hear you take some measure to protect yours!
