My hotel has issues. To me anyway, gold and marble is classless. I don’t know from where columns and chandelliers and gold on marble became “tasteful” but I think it’s just grossly overcooked. Gold wire dubs on a gold trimmed G-Wagen? Ok that as well but at least someone is having fun. This is a hotel built for the Salt Lake Olympics, so I suppose this was to impress the diplomats?
Maybe a grandma would be impressed. Feels like t his is her apartment, after all. Whelp, off to the Land Cruiser museum before I go back to work.

This looks like the décor for a historic, high-end hotel. A lot of them keep the “timeless” 60s/70s stuff in place to stay in character. Totally the opposite of what most midrange, modern places do with their minimalism.

This is making me think - how common is it to see a Toyota with the gold trim package in one of the off-white colors, and how often would that be a Land Cruiser?
I’m imagining you just happening to run across a Land Cruiser in what is effectively gold trim + marble and cursing the gods...

The gold is just tacky. Chrome would be some much better here, even if marble and chrome isn't my preferred look.
