Last week I saw a Momo clock in instagram. It was not actually a steering wheel, but a promotional item that Momo made in the mid nineties. I thought it was a cool idea, and remembered that I have the stock wheel from the Rabbit just laying around... so I hit up Amazon for a clock kit. Now I have this.
I did have to clear out more of the inside of the wheel than I thought but it was just rubber, so the plunge cut bit on my multi tool made quick work of that. After that it was just a matter of drilling the hole in the center pad.
I do with the hands were longer, maybe I can make some new ones out of aluminum.

Neat! I made a clock out of a new beetle hubcap years many ago. I’ll have to dig out a picture.

I was wondering what to do with the old wheel from my Mazda5, and if I can find an airbag cover I might just do this.
I remember that wheel fondly from my Rabbit GTI. The area under that central cover was a great place to stash my weed...

That’s a good idea! Clock kits are so cheap it’s like why would you ever buy a boring clock at Walmart when you can make one out of something you’ve got laying around.

It’s certainly a good hiding spot, or doesn’t look like it just pops out.

Now you’ve got me wanting to make a clock. But do I drill out the center of my spare momo wheel.....

Looks awesome! What are you thinking of replacing the hands with?

I really want to turn the center speedo from the Mini into a clock if that car ever ends up stripped.

You could make a wood backing plate for the clock to go through and use the six bolt holes to screw it on. Unless it doesn’t have a hole for the horn button.
My cousin has a very fake Momo wheel and I that’s what I want to do with it.

I was just think th8n aluminum, that’s what they csr now. But cutting and drillin material that thin could get tricky.

Now I know it’s always MkI O’clock somewhere.
