A few of our more remote field folks had them years ago but now the domestic cell network is solid enough so I don’t believe we have any at this point....

Lol - my stepbrother was in sales for them when they split from Motorola. Didn’t last long.

Ah the Iridium satellite array, non-geosynchronous low data rate piece of crap. It was a great idea poorly implemented at great cost that is now space junk. Never used an Iridium, but plenty of other satphones.

Lol this was a long time ago and Motorola thought they had cured cancer with it.

The phone was in the thousands and the “ plan” was in dollars per minute . $ 5, IIRC. 

Think he was marketing at the time now that I think about it. Trying to market to mining companies, drillers and the like. Corporations that had far flung, remote operations.
