That’s ridiculous. Instead I’m catching commuter rail from the airport and hoping for a $15-20 ride from downtown, since the light rail to my neighborhood stopped running already. There’s no way in hell those prices are legit.

Wow, that’s insane. Are you asking them to take you two states over or something? I think the worst I’ve ever seen was  leaving an NBA game at our downtown arena to head back to my house (normally a $8-$10  ride) costing $25.

Damn, looks like nobody wanted to get out of bed. Y ou could practically just rent a car for a day and pay less than that.

I paid something like $65 to get home from a NASCAR race that it cost us $13 to get to, but Richmond Raceway is not in a neighborhood you want to wander at night.

I’m pretty sure this is one of those rumored price surges caused by a lot of drivers logging out at the same time. It had dropped to about $45 when the commuter rail left.

Yeah, that’s BS. If you can take rail away from the airport and it’s at all safe, do it. That’s what I do anymore.

I hope your car isn’t too expensive to fix when you get back to it.  Travel safe.

Thanks. I do appreciate you guys’ tolerance :) I have had A Day. At least I have a plan for the car but sometimes I wish I had better local friends!

What a load of crap. We used to have similar problems at my work with Uber/Lyft drivers conspiring to drive up surge pricing by selectively logging in and out in groups. We were able to stop it by geofencing the entire facility, with a queue system for rideshare drivers. If they log out for any reason, they go to the end of the queue. If they do it enough , it locks them out for a predetermined period of time.

I have wondered about the new(ish) light rail to the airport, please let us know if it’s as pain free as it might appear.

I would think getting a ride in a stranger’s car at 1am would be pretty pricey.

Airport prices to my house are usually $27 -45 that time of night, depending on construction . I watched them climb in the app for about 10-15 minutes and then they dropped back to normal. Drivers signing out en masse to drive up pricing is a common tactic.

That’s what I’d do if I was a driver.
