Well well well; what do we have here (about as good as it gets for a sub $10k auto)

I’m still contemplating and debating if replacing the beetle will be necessary. Here is the tough part; if I replace it, it will most likely be automatic and I want it to be cheaper than the beetle.

As they say in Minnesota: “uf da”

There are certainly good automatics out there but their existence under $10k is rare. People are now tuning the ZF 6 speed in 2006-2012 BMWs that by reviews gets good reviews(fast shifts and good manual control). But just straight up stock automatics in that price range you’ve also got the VW/Audi dsg in the GTI/GLI/ A3 and the Mitsubishi lancer Ralliart .

Today I noticed a nice 328i coupe in a fun color with the sport package. It’s honestly the first car since selling the beetle that makes me think it would be a good add to the family garage.

This wouldn’t happen to be at a place called Hebert Auto?

It’s the same place I bought my 328 at. He bought them at  the same auction. Fair warning that means that car has been sitting for nearly 2 years. At the same time the guy that owns the dealership is really nice, and honest.

Nice XJ(I’m pretty sure it’s an XJ), especially for the price  but not my thing.

Oh, sure, I just find it interesting how wildly different priorities can be. I think practically every vehicle I love can be found for under $10k, and none of them are German (or generally automatics).

Oh that’s good. It identical. I love the color, and wheels. If it had been manual I would have bought that e91 instead of my e90. I’ve thought about asking if he’ll trade wheels with me because he those sport package 18s look so good.

They are fun cars but mine has become quintessentially German and tried all kinds of funny business as it knows I am trading it in for the new Corvette. The 335ix saw me through quite a bit and for a daily I truly loved it.

Holy crap; they could t be any more identical! Haha. But yes, I like the purplish color and the wheels.

Generally speaking I like a lot of cheap manuals. But I have little interest in most cheap automatics; but especially some slow shifting 4-5 speed ina less than impressive per/weight car.

I could love lots of cars with a manual; but the compromise is that whatever I get next will be an auto. And I’d rather not spend much so I’m focused on a few cars that strike a good balance.

A little catch up German style maintenance doesn’t scare me off too much. Chasing gremlins as naseum does but from what I’ve seen about these cars that’s an unlikely scenario.
