I bought a few Hazet sockets when I lived in Germany in the late 80s and they’re my favorites now. Just under $50 apiece for these swivels. I imagine new Snap On stuff would be priced similarly.

https://www.jensputzier.com/hazet-880g-10h-3-8-6-point-socket-set-with-universal-joint-2019.html same set $130 less. Still wouldn’t pay that personally. I see nothing wrong with this 50$ set, there design for the joint actually seems more usable too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SRAO4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sBVuDbAT60CZ7

Are you a professional mechanic?
I have one Hazet 13mm u-joint socket I bought back in Germany 30 years ago. The quality is superlative, but I don’t use it often. I’m not a pro mechanic, but I like using good tools.

I like HF stuff except for when I don’t.

It doesn’t have to be very good if it’s an order of magnitude cheaper...

The nice thing about cheap tools is you don’t mind modifying them to make them fit the application you need. You don’t buy ‘special tools’, you make normal tools special.

Sucker! I can get it for $473 on Amazon , a bargain!
That said, the hell are these things made from, a damantium and Mithril ?

No. I too like good tools but I highly doubt that those sockets are 10x as good as the sunex sockets. If you want to spend that kind of money cause you don't like Taiwanese tools go ahead

Hmmm H azet tools , makes really really, and I mean really good stuff. I know all too well the cost of expensive sockets. Maybe 1/10 of what I have. the semi-deep swivels (a godsend) were close to $700. The shallow impacts almost 300. The deep impacts another $500. Adds up quick. Cheap tools have their place, and I have a few, for some stuff . But for something that sees daily abuse, I’ll spend the money. These sockets are going on 10 years old. I’ve replaced 1 in that time. I’ve spent more in tools than my 2 houses in the last 20 years. Yeesh. Maybe I should have done something else.

I’m not going to buy that set of Hazet swivels by any means, but I do have a few common sizes in Hazet and I take satisfaction using them every time. I have a few Hazet wrenches, also.

I just bought a set of MAC 3/8-drive SAE sockets. I paid about $60 for them on Ebay. I don’t use them much, as all but one of the six (!) vehicles in my fleet are metric, but when it comes to hand tools, I cop to being a bit of a brand snob. Just a bit; not entirely. I don’t use my hand tools every day, but I’ve been using them for 35 years.

What happens when you get old? Its not like you can replace your hand

The markups on German tools here in the US are absolutely insane. I just order direct from Germany (or the UK) on Amazon. I have gotten Hazet and other German brands for a fraction of what Snap-On or Mac would cost. Plus Hazet tools are infinitely better than American brands.

Have you never seen Star Wars, Terminator or The Fugitive? It can be replaced.

Whos hand is replaced in the Terminator? Arnold just peels back the skin and fixes it, right?

As will I. The T-1000 also replaces many hands
