Look at this stubby tall boy. Too bad its only going to the Middle East.

I’m a Ford shill and everything, but boy does that look good. Gimme.

Ha that’s a funny looking lil thing. Sad, but yeah they’d sell like 4 of them.

They’re probably rightly assuming everyone here will just pay more for 4 doors.

Meanwhile Ram doesnt even make a new 1500 regular cab :(

Meh it'd be too expensive anyway.

So if this offers the same drive train option as in the US would one be able to import it based on the cab being the exact same as a regular cab long bed?

Shipping something across the ocean because they shipped it across the ocean first # capitalism .

I was just going to say this as I was on Ram’s website this morning. Shocked SHOCKED I tell you!
![]() 08/13/2019 at 10:34 |

That’d sell well here
![]() 08/13/2019 at 10:35 |

yeah - I think the lines look better on that std cab short box than on any other config

Trail boss starts at $41k now, so it’d at least get it into the 30s. Not great but better.

Chevy is a self harmer.
Chevy bosses “Hey, who buys wagons?”
Market researcher : “ Canada, not not the US ”
Chevy bosses: “Great, lets launch the Tourx in the USA only”
Chevy product team : “Hey, we have a new small offroad truck that could compete with the Tacoma/Gladiator”
Chevy bosses: “great, lets not bring it to the USA”

No, the 25 year law still applies.
Additionally, just because the engine and transmission are the same doesn’t mean the rest of the vehicle has the same emissions and/or safety components.

I was really hoping it’d be like that for the first year only but I heard there are no plans for a reg cab ... sad I am. Keeping it for work trucks on the HD only.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 10:55 |

I think thats the problem. Chevy only sells a reg cab in work truck trim here. If you want something nicer you have to get bigger with a fatter profit margin.

I meant here in Mexico.
Dodge has been pretty open minded about the mexican market, ford is very close minded about the F150 here. I don’t know if Chevy sells something special for us

Fingers crossed if GM brings the reg cab/short bed Trail Boss, maybe, just maybe, Ram will make a Rebel and Ford an FX4 (Raptor is too much of an overhaul) in the same configuration. Even if it’s a limited run it would be awesome to see.

And not marketing the SS, and killing 100 people, and trashing EV1s, and ...

The Orlando should of been available in the US and they should of made a Volt version of it.

There is a “substantially similar to” clause that allows imports as well.

If the cab and frame are the same then crash tests would be identical.
The emissions would probably be the biggest hold up. It would still probably be a pain in the ass to do, but I think it’s do-able.

Ooh! I didn’t know this. While I’d imagine this falls under “could” I’d also see it rapidly turning into “could... become a huge pain in the ass”

If you mean the minivan thing they had? You do NOT want it. I have seen so many with electrical faults, it’s not even funny...caught this one in traffic the other year where the indicators all came on with the brake lights (even the front ones!) and didn’t function as indicators at all...

The SS was a contractually obligated run out special for the Australia plant. Nothing more, nothing less. Putting marketing into them would have lost money.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 11:55 |

I know, just choose to ignore that. If you sell a thing you should market that thing.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 12:17 |

Whoa, hold up, is Ram not planning on making a reg cab in the new body style? I knew they weren’t going to right away, but I thought the plan was to keep the old body style around in reg cab form until they caught up with demand for NBS crew/quad cabs.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 12:34 |

At least that means we don’t have to look at it.

I am no product planner or Chrysler insider, but I ranted about it to a friend who works there and he offered no solace.

Me too, nothing wrong with a shorty.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 14:36 |

Come on really, you guys think this would sell well? Single cabs are not popular, even with construction companies. Even supercabs only sell at 25% of what a supercrew sells.
Yes, a few “enthusiast” would like one, but it’s not worth the production capacity to sell them in the US.
![]() 08/13/2019 at 15:35 |

I mean they literally already make all of the parts. I get your point but plants aren't maxed out making more profitable 4 doors.

I would care if the new Silverado wasn’t heinously ugly, but it is, so I don’t.

If there was enough demand, there would be a market case for them, there has to be a reason why not.
Probably a mixture of profit margin for both the manufacturer and dealer in comparison to crew cabs and even slow selling extra/super cabs.
